If you are planning a VBAC - what is your plan if you go overdue?

I’m currently 39 weeks and hoping for a VBAC. I’ve been offered sweeps from 40 weeks which I will have if the baby hasn’t arrived by then. I’ve also been offered induction via pessary but am not keen because of the risk of scar rupture.
If I don’t go into labour I have a c section scheduled for 40 +6 but am now worried that that won’t be enough time (DD1 was born at 41+5).
Interested to hear what others are planning if they go overdue.

I had a c section booked for 40+14. I went into labour at 40+4. My hospital encouraged the latest appointment possible to give the best chance, you’re right, that won’t give you long.

I'm only 25 weeks so I've got plenty of time to think about it more, but with my DS, I was induced on my due date because he was measuring large for dates (they were right he was dead on 10lbs) however the induction failed spectacularly, I didn't go in to labour at all, didn't dilate, contract, nada, so I ended up having a c-section. This time around I'm planning vbac, but I don't want to be induced. I'll have 2 sweeps and if no baby by 40+12 I'll go in for c-section. All being well of course.

Thanks for your responses. It does sound like 6 days might not give enough time for labour to happen spontaneously.
The situation is complicated as DD1 was very ill and spent time in NICU. Doctors said they can't be sure of the actual reason she was unwell but failing placenta was mentioned at one point so I'm also worried about going too overdue.

Might they offer you enhanced monitoring if you go over? Might be worth an ask.

I has a successful vbac 10yrs ago. I was inducedrinking by pesseri. They wouldn't use the drip as this brings on labour quicker with a more likely hood of scar rupture.
They have to induce you slowly.
I had 3 attempts with the pesseri over 3 days do one pesseri a day. And I had sweeps.
On 3rd attempt it worked and had my son naturally. Being induced can run a high risk of having a section after already having one. Maybe wa it a little bit longer before being induced.
Hope all goes well.

I was induced 40+2 due to high blood pressure.

Ok I’m going to ask my midwife about possible induction by pessary.
I’m 39+2 today. Would rather not go too overdue because of DD1’s issues but would also prefer a VBAC over another c section. Come on baby!

Some friends had success with acupuncture for induction - started things off with less intervention and pain than drip. I'm going to give it a go if I'm late and get date for induction (acupuncturist won't do it till date is set). Good luck!
