Anyone induced because of fast first labour

First labour was very fast, son was born 1 hour 25 mins after getting to the hospital

We've recently re located and now live 40 mins from the hospital, we will also have to wait 40 mins at least for a family member to drive to us to look after my son.

Anyway, the consultant has told me induction is an option, because she said it's likely I wouldn't make it to the hospital
Also I was very concerned about childcare as the one person who can do it works so if she happens to be at work when the time comes we are screwed..

I also have very severe spd but that's not a consideration of the induction because the consultant said it would be 39/40 weeks
Son was born 40+2 so would try and delay the induction for as long as possible, as near to 40 weeks as possible..

So has anyone had an induction because of these same reasons?
Feels ridiculous to put myself through an induction purely because of where we live and childcare but the reality is... I don't want to give birth at home or in the car!

Any experience welcome!

Speaking as a MW it's something I see every few weeks, and it's frustrating. You need to be aware induction can be drawn out even after fast spontaneous labours. I've admitted several women induced for previous precipitate labour who have still been pregnant 2 days later. Partly because they aren't particularly sensitive to the drugs (some are obviously). Partly because it's a 'social' induction not done for medical reasons for mum or baby, so if it gets busy then it drops to bottom of the list and poor mum has to watch women who came in after her going first. I wouldn't say don't do it, but do go into it with your eyes open.

Plus if being done at 40 weeks (and likely to work faster at 40 weeks than before) then you still need some kind of plan in place in case you go into labour early. A perfectly good plan would be your dh brings you and dc to hospital then waits in coffee shop with dc until friend/ family member arrives to collect. Worst case dh misses birth if it's really quick, but the baby won't care. I speak as someone whose baby arrived whilst dad was trying to find a parking space (I had already been dropped off at the door, and made it into a room).

I had a really quick labour with one dc. Just took the others in with us until gps arrived to take them home.

Thanks for the advice! Will discuss it all with my midwife at my next appointment
I still have a little while to decide what to do!
Had never thought of taking him to the hospital with us so that's an option! Thanks
