Retinal detachment and childbirth

Hi. I am 28+5 weeks pregnant and I had a retinal detachment on both eyes a few years ago and a miopia -5.5. Had an eye surgery for the detachnent in Russia, and my eye doctor who did the surgery rejects the possibility of natural birth, telling there is a high risk for second detachment and blindness.
Now I live in Scotland, had an appointment with a consultant but it is already more than a month that they dont give me any answer about possibility of an elective c-section. Every time I call, they tell they are still waiting for a response from ophthalmologist. And my midwife doesnt seem to be interested in helping me to get a c-section. Every time I see her she just tells consultant will deside and changes the topic.
I am very worried about giving natural birth and getting blind afterwards, as my cousin had the same issue and got blind on one eye after her first child. I think they are just gaining time and then they will tell me it is too late for an elective c-section. Does anyone know if I can demand a c-section in Scotland? Anyone faced such a situation?
Thanks!

I'm sure in your situation a c section would be a no brainer.

I don't know if this applies to all but my friend who is a midwife said they won't entertain discussing where or how until 34 weeks?

Forgot to mention-every time I try to talk about it to my midwife she tells doctors in UK can tell the opposite than the ones in other countries. Her face expression changes and she doesnt seem to be interested in helping me with getting an elective c section. I am just worried that they will not take it serious.

My friend got a c section for retinal detachment, no questions asked as soon as the consultant saw her diagnosis.

Chase your opthalmologist.

Thanks for the answer! I have a midwife appointment tomorrow, will try to talk to her again. We'll see what happens.
