VBac?

Last time round I sailed through labour, pushing the lot.. then it went tits up. Emergency section.
Not the best experience.
Swore i would never do it again & here I am!

Does anyone know much about second time round?

As I’ll have a 5 year old that’s just started school giving birth naturally with less recovery time sounds lovely but on the other hand it all being pre planned, eliminating the unknown, panic & waiting to go into labour would be great also...

Is it true Vbacs quite often end in a section anyway?

Obviously I’ll research properly & ask midwife, just wondering & (over) thinking at the moment

I also had a EMCS right at the end of my labour. I was 10cm dilated but baby wasn’t moving down at all. I don’t want an EMCS again so I’m opting for an elective this time.

Each hospital should have stats on their VBAC success rates. I guess your midwife could point you to these, or they may be available on line. The success rate are aggregate data though so they’re not broken down by reason for the EMCS etc.

I’ve seen some research that suggests women who have a section at 10cm are less likely to have a successful VBAC.

Had an emcs, after being induced, due to failure to progress and foetal distress 10 years ago, have had two vaginal births since no problem.

I think it really depends on why you had an emcs in the first place, among other factors. What usually happens when you get pregnant again is you have a consultant appointment and they go through your notes and discuss with you if they think you would be a good candidate for vbac or not. If they don't think it's a good idea to try they will say but your feelings about it are the main thing - if you want an elective even if you'd be physically ok to try for vbac you can have one. There's some websites out there about VBAC if you have a little google, I remember looking into it loads after my first because I really didn't want a section again.
