Any one had antibodies that caused anemia in their newborn?
Did you have a natural birth?
Was baby ill at birth or develop jaundice later.
Did your baby have UVB therapy or blood transfusions?
Or did you have antibodies but everything was normal at birth?
asking as my friend has just found out she cant have her home birth.

I'm 14 weeks with my second baby and have been told I have low levels of anti-D antibodies, even though I had the injections that should have prevented it in pregnancy #1. Because my partner is Rh+, it's very likely that the baby will be too, and therefore that my antibodies will attack the baby's red blood cells to some extent.
As far as I know, there are all sorts of different possible outcomes: the baby could be jaundiced, it could be anaemic, there are worse outcomes which I'm hoping I'm not at high risk for because this is only my 2nd pregnancy. It could all be fine. Haven't seen the consultant yet so I don't know what the different risk levels are.
The thing which is helping me is that at this point there is absolutely nothing I can do to help: just turn up to all the blood tests and scans, and wait and see.
I also had a home birth for my first and was hoping to do the same again, but understand that's not possible now as the baby may well need treatment in hospital after birth and everything has become more high-risk. Hope your friend is OK. Is it anti-D antibodies she has, or a different kind?
I'd love to hear from other people who've been through this too, it's apparently rare these days since the preventative anti-D injections work for most Rh- women.

I had anti-c antibodies detected in my pregnancy with DS2. As far as I know, the highest risk ones to have are anti-c, anti-D and anti-Kell. My antibody levels remained low throughout and DS was completely unaffected. I had a thread about it here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/2973934-Antibodies-specifically-anti-c

Thanks so much Eve & Figs. I have been assuming that things might well be fine but it's reassuring to hear about other pregnancies where people's antibody levels stayed low.
