Looking for some support and advice before I was pregnant I had high blood pressure so been monitored very carefully during pregnancy including a few admissions to hospital the past few scans they have seen problems with my placenta the blood is only trickling through to baby so he is only just about getting the blood flow and the resistance is high I’m being scanned twice a week nd I was scanned 2 weeks ago and baby was 1lb 10oz then was scanned again last week and baby was 1lb 14oz than scanned again today and baby hasn’t gained any weight at all and blood flow is still bad so I have had a steroid injection today and will be having one tomorrow than there going to scan me Saturday and unless baby isn’t happy they will leave me till Boxing Day than admit me into hospital and see how things go but if baby isn’t happy on Saturday the doctor said they make very quick decisions and after have my steroids tomorrow if baby seems to not be happy they would just give me a emergency c-section I’m 29 weeks exactly today 😣and just so scared has anyone had anything like this happen to them or had babies this early this small? Any advice would really be appreciated 🙏🏻💙👶🏻🍼

Well, I was born at 29 weeks in 1980 when medical science was less advanced. I spent six weeks in SCBU getting bigger and stronger. Now I'm The healthiest adult I know. I'm also very smart, straight A student etc.

My colleague had a little girl at thirty weeks a few years ago. Honestly it's really not that early these days,

I was in a similar situation this time last year. Not due to baby's growth but due to me having ongoing bleeding and contractions. I ended up delivering my baby by emergency c section at 27 weeks exactly, after going into labour on Boxing Day.

At 29 weeks your baby's chances are excellent. Babies as young as 24 weeks (and sometimes younger) tend to have generally good outlooks these days. That is not to say that it isn't difficult. Be prepared for your little one to need some breathing support (they may not, but it is common for them to need it), to be tube - fed (29 weeks is too young for breast or bottle). They will need to go in an incubator to keep body temperature warm enough.

If you end up needing to have the early delivery, your hospital should ideally (if there is time), give you a tour of the Neonatal Unit before you deliver. That will help you understand what to expect.

Fingers crossed your baby has time to grow a little more and you can postpone delivery for as long as possible. Good luck!
