Anyone had VBAC at Queen Charlottes

I had my first dd there by emergency cs and although the facilities are excellent and all is nice and clean and new, the care felt very hands off. Thanks to the advice I have been given on mumsnet I am now planning to have an independent midwife with me but still need to a)find one and b) decide which hospital.

So anyone had VBAC/attempted VBAC at Queen Charlottes? Were they supportive? Did you use the birth centre?

Thanks for any input!

I had a VBAC at QC - wasn't allowed to use the birth centre - was 'promised' the 'low tech' side of the labour ward but in reality when I turned up I was put on the 'high risk' side - nothing particularly awful with that though - room was large and I had brought my own birthing ball.
Had to have continual fetal monitoring but kept moving and sitting on ball.
In the end, I had the same complications that had led to my first labour ending in section (malposition of fetal head) but the midwive helped me change positions so that the baby could move round - took an hour but it worked (whereas last labour at a different hospital, once they felt the head they said it had to be a section).
Midwives and Registrar/HO insisted on continuing the VBAC even after I had had enough and was asking for another section, so I can guarentee that the staff will be supportive!

Thanks Millarkie. My c-section was due to malpositioning after a long labour and attempted ventouse so very interested to hear your vbac experience. Shame about the birth centre though but filled with hope by the fact that the midwives were supportive!
