2nd induction booked after terrible experience 1st time

Anyone had a positive second induction. Throughout this pregnancy my one big no no was to be induced. However following 6 weeks of little lady being below the 10th centile I've been booked in for another induction at 38+5 this Monday. Now I'm terrified

Ohhh we are in the exact same boat. I was brought in for induction at 40wks last time. Went in on Tuesday baby not born until Sunday, during a heat wave. Days of bugger all happening and getting no sleep on a ward full of women in various stages of labour.

Multiple pessaries and having waters broken did nothing, so ended up on the drip. Everything was fine until I got to 4cms and they turned the drip up. Suddenly there was no respite between contractions, and the pain went through the roof. Had all the drugs which did nothing for the pain. Eventually got my lovelllllly epidural. Got some kip and woke up ready to push baby out myself.

My dd number two also tracking just below 10th centile. Looks like induction at 37 weeks for me. This time I will

1. Demand to go home if there are prolonged periods of nothing happening
2. Schedule an epi asap if I end up on the drip.
3. Have wireless monitoring again.
4. Try and avoid a catheter, I got cystitis after

At least we know a bit more what to expect and I hope I will be better at fighting my case.

What is freaking you out the most?

I hadn't a bit of a nightmare the first time- induced at nearly 42 weeks, horribly painful, 24 hour labour ending in episiotomy/ ventouse as DD was having some heart decelerations towards the end.
Second induction could not have been more different. I was 39+5 (for low fluid levels) pessary was in 24 hours and didn't do anything so they broke my waters and put drip up. Had decided in advance to go for epidural as soon as I was having trouble coping with pain as I had really unpleasant memories of previous labour. Managed great with gas and air for 3.5 hours then got epidural. 30 mins later DS was born. 4 hours total from broken waters to baby and I couldn't have been happier. And I got home the next day!

Regarding drip- I was really nervous about this as it has a really bad reputation. TBH it wasn't really that bad at all- nothing on previous labour at all. I would say take one minute at a time, concentrate on your breathing and go for escalation in f pain relief if/ when you're not coping. In retrospect I probably only started to struggle when I was fully dilated/ ready to push.
