Unsucessful ECV. Planned C-section on Monday but concerened about waiting the weekend.

So I was there at half 7 this morning and was finally let go at 2pm after they booked me in for a planned C section on monday as the ECV failed and baby has not grown in 4 weeks and they just think the safer option is for her to be out. They have said that I need to come in tomorrow for 2nd dose of steroids for babys lungs and a CTG. And then continue coming in daily for a CTG until monday! I know this is only 2 days but we live 20 minute drive away from the hospital. And we don't drive. Taxis are £10 each way and the price of buses arent much better. We cant expect family members to keep carting us around over their weekend. So am wondering if it would be likely that they will agree to doing the section tomorrow instead of monday? Its not just means of getting there each day. I am also quite worried as her movements have reduced since the failed ECV. they were happy to do the section today but I passed up the oportunity due to not being mentally prepared. Is there really much difference in doing it before or after the weekend besides waiting lists?

I'm sorry you're having a stressful time. Is there anyway you could go ahead with the CS today? In our Trust it would be classed as an EMCS if done on the weekend, so perhaps they'll only do one over that time if they have serious concerns? Maybe they're also weighing this against a couple more days for the steroids to mature baby's lungs?

I'd have a chat about your concerns with the midwives when you go in today for the CTG. I had at least one CTG per week in the third trimester and whilst it was stressful and costly (25 minutes away from hospital plus parking charges) the midwives were excellent and reassuring.

Good luck Flowers

Your baby's movements have decreased since the ECV, so that's reason enough to get yourself up to the hospital and be checked over. They may well want to do the c section today, or keep you in the be monitored until the c section.
I will be having an ELCS, due to breech baby, and to say I'm nervous is an understatement. I don't think you'll ever be fully mentally prepared for it, and the safe arrival of baby is the most important factor right now. Remember you have the option of being put to sleep, if the c section itself is what's worrying you.
Give the ward a call. Good luck OP, wishing you the best Flowers.

I had an elcs for an unstable lie/transverse baby but was kept on the ante natal ward for a week beforehand for monitoring. You don't say how many weeks you are but I'm guessing you're not full term if they are giving steroids? At my hospital they wouldn't do an elcs before 39 weeks without a pressing medical need and they only did them on certain days of the week, so maybe they've told you Monday because they don't do planned CS on Fridays?
But obviously if you've got reduced movements, then make sure you tell them this and they may either keep you in for monitoring or do the CS sooner. Good luck!
