Any midwifes? Why?

my beautiful baby was born by emergency section. Whilst I have a vague idea why I'm not 100% but would like to know as it interests me and I'd like to know why I'll need sections for any subsequent babies.
We were told the name of the condition but neither of us can remember it. I think t was something about third? Possibly band?

Basically I was fully dilated through labour, then labour slowed to very little, pushing was ineffective, exams were awful. Got taken to theatre where doc told me she would double check if she could use forceps but would probably be a section,.

Any ideas? I know I could make an appointment to find out,but not sure Im bothered enough.....

Is your c section incision over your pubic line (from side to side) or up and down from your belly button?

vlooby · 30/07/2017 04:37

Side to side. Apparently they struggled to get baby out so it is slightly longer, although my community midwife didn't think so

I'd make the appointment and find out, tbh.

Yes I probably will, but thought if the term was fairly obvious to someone in the business I could save everyone some time, especially as it is more from curiosity than anything else. :)

Nothing is springing to mind to do with third or banding that would require caesareans from now! But I'm a student... Yes make an appointment, you'll need to know the details for next time.

Do you mean a Bandl's ring? This is something that can happen in severely obstructed labour and lead to uterine rupture if the baby isn't delivered in enough time. If it was that, then I'm assuming it's because they think you'd be at high risk of uterine rupture if you went into labour in a future pregnancy.

Best you have a debrief and ask them though.

Thanks @GoldenWorld . Definitely rings a bell but I'll make that appointment too.
