4th c-section

We've just found out we are expecting again. This will be my 4th child and it will also be my 4th section. 1st was an emergency as baby was in distress and 2nd 2 were consultant advised. Obviously vbac will not be an option, I very much doubt anyway. I will be getting sterilised after this one too. Any mums out their who have experienced a 4th section?

I've had 2 but the lady in the next bed to me when I was having my 1st cs was in having her 4th. She was doing really well in hospital, definitely looked better than I felt.

Thank you xxx

I'm due my 4th section in about 12 weeks.
Consultants have been really positive about it, no concerns which surprised me.
Vbac not recommended but my first 2 labours were all over the place ending in sections and I didn't go into labour 3rd time, had section at 40 weeks so I am at peace with the decision.
Youngest dc will be 15 months when I have this section, again no concerns.
Consultant went over my last birth notes with me this week, said I was quite "sticky" meaning my bowel and bladder had adhered to my scar tissue but they managed to peel everything away fine (sorry for tmi) placenta in good place etc so no concerns.

It really really helped me to have a good talk with consultants and put my mind at ease so if you can do that.
I hope you have a lovely pregnancy and birth :)
Also do you mind if I ask if your DH will be with you? Mine will have to be at home with the dc I think and he is nervous x

I don't mind any questions at all or tmi, I think it helps. I am having a little bleeding at the minute, I only did test on Sunday so I'm a little worried. No pains for now, small amount of brown discharge/blood on wiping, little worse of a morning but hoping this is just build up through the night. I've been wearing a panty liner through the day (bloody hate the things) but never any loss on them as yet. I was wondering if it is more due to scar tissue from sections. My youngest is just turned 2. No complications with previous sections and was up and about in no time. Would of been up earlier if they hadn't had me attached to pee bag lol. I'm just hoping this goes the right way. Unsure as to the delivery attendance yet lol. OH would be there as my mum is usually there with the kids as would me sister.I'm trying to stay positive but no think too far forward at the same time. I hope all goes well for you it sounds like you have a very understanding and professional team behind you, good for you xx

Excuse typos, I hate my phone lol

I took my own catheter out last time because they kept leaving my curtains open and there were partners/husbands/kids milling around so I got up to close them.
Sorry you are bleeding, that is stressful.
I didn't have any bleeding but did have scar pain, when the scar starts stretching that was quite unnerving at first. This one feels different, I don't know if it's his position or maybe less fluid/smaller baby or he's just a wiggler but sometimes I have to lay down because his scrabbling about is uncomfortable. Almost scratchy.
We were totally unprepared for this one and I think I was about 6-8 weeks when we found out. I burst into tears watching moana which made me take a test lol. Then few days later the sickness kicked in and oh my days this time round I've been like something from a horror film when I'm sick.
Actually I'm pretty laid back about the "team" at my hospital you just seem to get whoever is around on the day.

At my appointment this week the midwife was very keen to point out risks and dangers etc but then the consultant would come back in and basically say the opposite, it was quite entertaining. I had a couple of terrible appointments in my last pregnancy that had me in tears so I would definitely say if you don't gel with someone or don't agree with what they say or feel pressured into anything then ask to see someone else.
I'm not being sterilised. The consultant questioned me about it and I basically said that I feel that if something were to go wrong and I was left in pain I would be fobbed off with "women's troubles" especially after 4 sections. But if dh has the snip and was in pain they'd sort him out straight away. She actually agreed.
I must admit I am a little frightened and Lord knows I really really don't want to go back into hospital but he's got to come out eventually lol. xx

Hope all goes well. Wish I was in a position of knowing if foetus is implanting or my body is rejecting. Never mind, time will tell. Good luck for the next few weeks

I've had four c-sections (got sterilised with the last one).

Third c-section was a bit of a mess - lots of adhesions and blood loss. Advised not to get pregnant again.

Did get pregnant (unplanned) and spent the entire pregnancy worrying that I or the baby would die during the c-section. Burst into tears when I met the consultant as I was so worried about the risks. He was brilliant and reassuring. Reviewed the 3rd c-section notes and agreed that it had been a bit tricky but that they would have senior staff do the op, etc. Came out of that meeting with him having made me feel like I'd done a fantastic thing by having a 4th c-section and that it would have a bad thing if I hadn't actually got pregnant a 4th time!

I went into labour two weeks before he scheduled c-section so it became an emergency c-section. It was the smoothest one ever and they asked repeatedly if I was sure I wanted to be sterilised as they would be happy to do a 5th c-section for me. They obviously did a brilliant clean up job during the 3rd one!

It was also the fastest recovery time.

As the PP said, they've got to come out sometime and it's the safest way

Mary2021 · 15/01/2021 09:01

I'm pregnent just found out my youngest is 7 months old and I've had 3 c sections I'm so full of anxiety the doctors have said to read the risks online but not really give me any complete reassurance could you guys possibly let me k ow how you get on too x

Liea · 16/02/2021 12:10

Update so far pregnancy going well. She isn't due til May 30th. I'm 25 weeks and 2 days now I'm feeling less anxious and more relaxed now. 😊 Staying positive my last c-section was 2015 and my baby was premature and born floppy and respiratory problems he was given cpr straight after birth he is 5 now and doing great, that's where my fear comes in alot, Reguarding this c- section. But hopefully my daughter will be born without complications and I'm just stressing myself out from anxiety. 😊 Has usual

I just typed a long reply and lost it! So I might write a few shorter messages to make sure it doesn't happen again Angry. I had my 4th section 6 weeks ago and it went really well. The section was quicker and easier than my third and my recovery has been easy too. I too had been advised not to have a 4th, as I had a lot of scarring but this baby was a surprise! But it went really well and was a relaxed and pleasant experience.

Somethingsnappy · 19/02/2021 17:59

I recognise one or two names from chatting in other related threads. Hi @Mummyto3GBG!
My consultant said that in her experience and that of her colleagues, 4th sections are often easier than the 3rd, because scarctissue is often tidied up during the previous sections. This did seem to be the case for mine!

Loz91 · 19/02/2021 21:13
