Size of hospital bag!

Ok so I'm 37 weeks pregnant with DC2. I can't actually remember what kind of bags I packed for DS1 6 years ago. But basically this time I've got a baby changing bag for baby. Plus a medium sized suitcase (one up from cabin size) for me. Oh. And I have gestational diabetes so I have a seperate small food bag for GD friendly snacks for labour 🙈 I'm freaking out a bit that the midwives are gonna laugh at me for looking like I'm going on a two week holiday to Spain!

I am being induced so expect to be in at least 2-3 days, maybe more, and have packed 2 of most clothes (pj's, comfy troos, tops). This is my minimum really as I always like to have a spare of what I need. I have also packed a few things like blanket, pillow, magazines, TENS, etc in the suitcase. And I still have a bit of room in there. So it's not like it's rammed full of stuff.

But just wondered if this is ridiculous and what others have done?? I was thinking about packing a small 'labour' bag just for stuff for labour and then leaving another bag in the car for post labour clothes, pads etc etc. But with the induction I thought actually, if we will be hanging around a bit, I might need/want a change of clothes etc and all the stuff in one bag.

I also have a back up bag at home for DH to grab after a few days to replenish supplies if we stay in more than what I've prepared for.

Just don't want to look like a diva or a prat!

But is there actually going to be anywhere on the ward for you to store even a small suitcase?

I seem to remember space under the chair for bags last time, and infront of bedside table... but maybe not for the suitcase! I'll have a rethink.

I think I've cracked it!!

3 bags:
Changing bag for baby.
'Labour' cabin bag for me; labour essentials plus one change of clothes/wash bag/small supply of pads for immediately after.
'Hospital stay' hold all for me in boot of car; stuff for 1-2 day stay at hospital.

Go in with the changing bag and labour bag.

After birth, DH can swap the labour bag for the hospital stay bag. Job done ☺️ Phew!!

You would never know I've done this before, it's been so long I feel I'm going in blind!!

I got told off by a midwife as my suitcase was too big. It was either that or a rucksack that wouldn't have got everything in. I took my dressing gown which took up loads of room so I felt the telling off was out of order. I seem to remember it sliding under the bed a bit though and don't remember it being in the way.
