So baby is coming apparently. Anyone got any reassuring stories of babies fine and healthy at this gestation? Expecting a stay in scbu for a bit (Name changed for this thread)

My waters went at 32+6 and I went into labour at 33+4.

Ds was absolutely fine.

I'd imagine you've already had the steroid jabs. And you may not deliver for a while yet.

33 weeks isn't scarily early.

Good luck!

My friend had her waters break at 34 weeks just a couple of weeks ago. Her labour held off a few days, gave birth a week ago and just came home yesterday with a perfect 5lb baby girl, no complications or problems other than the waters breaking early.

They'll look after baby, don't worry Flowers

Yep I've had one lot of steroids- they're hoping to give another dose before baby comes and giving antibiotics too. But they're keeping me in until baby is born. Glad to hear the babies are fine- they've all said here they're not worried but it's not exactly what I had in mind.

I know it doesn't seem it at the moment, but 33 isn't seen as particularly early by medical staff. I will always remember a nurse telling me that my twins, born at 27+6, just had to stay in hospital "to feed and grow, they're just in incubators to cook for a little bit longer".

You might have a week or two in SCBU but your baby will be OK. Neonatal specialists are (in my biased opinion) some of the greatest doctors & nurses in the NHS.

Best wishes Flowers

Thankyou. Yes no one seems particularly worried which is reassuring and they've certainly no plans to prevent labour. I agree (also with professional experience) scbu staff are generally amazing.
