I'm having a real battle with myself at the moment , when I had my little boy I had a really bad time during labour ended up being rushed to theatre given a spinal, cut and eventually they got my little boy out with special forceps that only one doctor could use luckily he was on duty , I lost 1000mls of blood and afterwards was told I had an extremely low Pubic arch which is what caused my little boy to get stuck.My question is do I insist on a c section this time knowing I have a low pubic arch and considering the complications last time or do I just go with the flow and see what happens during labour this time . I really don't know one minute I think yep lets do this just go with the flow see what happens next I think maybe I should insist on c section , I really don't know what to do

Was it keilands forceps?
I had on my birth plan c-section over those, armed with the knowledge of the damage done to my mum with them (by a very very skilled dr)

You would be absolutely within your rights to request a section, especially given that it was the shape of your anatomy that was part of the problem , something that isn't going to change that dramatically (if at all)

I'm 30 weeks pregnant I was told on two of my appointments that they would discus birth plan at 36 weeks I mentioned both times about a section and explained about how it was giving birth with my son they read my notes but of course on paper it dsnt sound a big deal but in reality it really was , the two times I've said about a section I've felt like it's fallen on deaf ears and basically told well let's see what happens . Yes it was those forceps

I'd take a planned c section over risk of forceps. There are of course risks with section which I'm sure you're aware of, it''s not a walk in the park but your first labour sounds very traumatic

I have no basis for thinking this but I suspect their main reason for declining sections is the cost. Put your foot down if that's what you want.

I had Keilland, Philips and another type of forceps when my son was born. He was jaundiced and I lost a lot of blood. It was supposed to be a trial of labour after a c section with my first. Please ask again for a C section. I was told my pelvis was flat at the top (after a scan) and a third baby would be a c section.

Can you ask to speak to a consultant? I wouldn't wait until 36 weeks if you may want a planned section.

Thanks for your replays, I've got an appointment in the 28th of the 28th of this month for a growth scan and see the consultant afterwards, I think I'm going to ask about a section at this appointment and hope they take me seriously and put it in writing I feel I'm going to get the well we will discuss and decide at 36 weeks again x

Also I know a section isn't an easy option out I've done tons of research which is why I think I'm having such a battle with myself

How was your recovery from your first birth? Personally in your shoes I would choose section but you will have to push for one if it's what you want. I would press to get a meeting with a consultant to discuss things properly and explain how traumatic you found first labour.

My recovery was quite slow , I ended up being in a lot of pain down below for about 6 months and the first couple of months was painful just walking about . I also had a little infection for a couple of weeks which felt worse than razors when I went to the toilet. When I see the consultant on the 28th I'm going to discuss things with them and hopefully they will see where I'm coming from. Has anyone had a section is it as scary as it sounds

Your recovery from first birth sounds a lot worse than my recovery from section. To be honest I was totally back to normal after 2 weeks and no pain after the first few days, though obviously everybody's different. Do your research into c section risks before your appointment as they will want to make sure you understand what you're undertaking.

I've done lots of reading on sections and I'm aware of the risks, Ive just been reading about the forceps that were used to get my son out and they are really dangerous if used in the wrong hands, think I'm going to insist on a section . Theirs risks if I have a vaginal birth so feel a bit like damned if I do damned if I don't
