Did anyone have their uterus manually contracted after birth?

And if so, why? Do you know why you needed it?

I'm not sure if that is the correct term for it, but basically where the doctors or midwives all press down hard on your stomach to force all the blood and clots and "stuff" out of you after birth.

I had it done to me, but it's all a bit of a blur and I'm trying to work out why, but it's hard to find anything about it by googling, I'm maybe not searching using the right term. (I've requested my notes but it'll be a long wait).

Ok so I had the same thing happen. My uterus wouldnt contract and I was losing a lot of blood. The thing is I had a strange thing happen while everyone was panicking around me. I felt like I can only describe was a lift floor and I was going slowly down. All the noises were getting further and further away. It was so peaceful and lovely. I could hear the doctor way in the distance shouting my name and ordering me to open my eyes. I just remember thinking no thank you its so nice here. I don't know how long I was like that but the next thing that happened was it was like someone pressed an up button and I was zooming back up again. When I was back I opened my eyes and vomitted all over one of the doctors. That feeling kind of haunts me. Has anyone else experienced This?

I had this after a CS, so all done internally, plus the syntocin to contract my uterus, after a PPH. Not pleasant at all, but not painful because I'd had a spinal for the CS. But it had already been a pretty tough CS, even though it was a planned one, because DS was in a ridiculous position and wouldn't come out. It was much worse than my previous EMCS with DD.
