A Sweep. Who had one and how long after did you go into labour.

Despite the fact that i have given up hope of this baby ever coming out, i am due for a sweep tomorrow and have a flicker of hope that this will set me off. However i've also heard that for many it does nothing....

how hopeful should i be?

I've had a sweep with all 3 dd's. All were 1 week late.
DD1- had sweep, contractions started by the time I got to the car park

DD2 - had sweep on the Tuesday, nothing happened by the Wed so I put on a rave anthems cd and danced round the house, she was born next day.

DD3- had sweep at lunch time and she was born at 3.30am next morning.

thanks. had sweep yesterday afternoon and still twiddling my thumbs!....

My DS1 was born less than 24hrs after having the sweep. I was 13 days late (midwife was holding off booking me for induction until I was 3 weeks overdue as I had previous good record!).

The midwife did say however, that his head was as far down as it could possibly get without birth actually happening!

i had one at 11am (not today !!) still nothing at 8pm so was given an induction pessary, still nothing, given another induction pessary the next morning (still nothing) my waters were broken at 8pm, (still nothing) so was put on to a drip (for i/v induction) at midnight then had my ds2 at 3.05 am. what an exhausting couple of days!!

my dd was 2 weeks early, my ds was 10 days late (torture), dreaded the sweep but had it when one week late onthe sunday - uncomfy but it gave me some motivation when mw said slightly dialated and bulging membranes ready to go so guess it gave me some hope, went into labour on the wed - quick 4 hr start to fin - do i think it helped? hard to say - i think they come when there ready and if they do is it just a coincidence that someones tinkled with your twinkle?
