Positive stories of induction

Im 41+2 and looking at being induced next week.

I am absolutely terrified about it, wanted to give birth on mw led unit, birth pool etc and have spent all pregnancy pushing for this.

However baby doesn't seem to want to come, so induction seems a strong possibility.

Can you tell me your stories of it all being ok?

I am worried about a drip, pain, pain killers, episiotomy and instrumental delivery

I've had three babies and three inductions so I've never went into labour naturally and nothing to compare it to. They've all been fine. Very controlled but all my midwives were very well prepared and I think I was very well looked after. Try not to worry Op. people just love a horror story.

I've had one induction, first baby so can't compare to natural birth.

Waters went and spent 36 hours in hospital waiting for a room on the Labour ward. Bypassed the pessary and went straight to drip. Took 6 hours in total and it was incredibly painful. By the time I looked for the epidural, it was too late but im hindsight, even if I wasn't 10xm dilated I wouldn't have been able to stay still long enough for the anaesthetist to work her/his magic. I had diamorphine which made me sleepy for an hour and took the edge off the pain. Just the edge mind.... Confused

I had no intervention but was probably close to it at the pushing stage, took a while to push her head out as was terrified of tearing. Ended up with some 2nd degree tears.

I just wanted to say that inwas induced and ended yp with a forceps and episiotomy delivery. Now, a few weeks later I barely remember and am totally healed. So, even if that is the outcome, do not worry...your body is going to recover. You will be fine.

My fist induction wasn't great.

My second was! Waters broken at breakfast. Gas and air. Baby delivered before lunch. An hour later I was showering myself. Still feel a bit in a high more than 3 months on!

The drips etc are a pain, but you just have to get in with it. I had a lovely midwife who helped me get comfortable.

I was 14 days late. They induced me with a pessary. About 12 hours later my waters broke on its own. Two hours after that contractions started. And about 5 hours later she arrived naturally. I didn't even have pain relief. And I feel for my first birth it all went rather well!
