Sir stanley clayton ward at queen charlotte hospital

Hi,
Looking to have a baby (probably midwifery led care) at queen charlotte (stanley clayton ward) can anyone tell me how the private wing there compares to the lindo wing and the portland?

Isn't Stanley Clayton post-natal only? As in you can stay there as a private patient after birth but you'd have an NHS delivery on either the labour ward or midwife unit. I could be wrong though but thought Imperial private births are Lindo Wing only.

Check whether they meant at St Mary's. If I recall correctly the number for private care on the Imperial website defaults to the Lindo Wing.

So you deliver on the same ward as nhs but if you go for private option you have private midwife or consultant to deliver you depending on wether youve gone for consultant led or midwide led.

What does everybody think of this?
£7 seems quite steep to pay for effectively an NHS ward with a private midwife.

Have you been in contact with the ward? Done a tour? That seems to me to be the way to get your questions answered. I toured it about seven years ago when expecting my first, but we then moved and I ended up at the Portland instead due to insurance co reasons.

When I toured it was a fully private ward with its own midwifery and consultant staff. £7k is probably about right for a midwife-led birth (if that's total pregnancy, delivery and post-natal care). I just checked and at the Portland it's £8k commencing from the 30th week (£8600 from the 20th week).

I would say from this that it's still a fully private service, not the NHS with a private midwife.
