But why can I not have a bath after a c section?

Apparently the wound gets infected. But it would just have water over it like it would in the shower? I could stand under the shower for an hour or sit in the bath for an hour with salts. Why is bath so much worse?

Fairly sure I was told not to soak the wound too much because it can dissolve the dissolvable stitches too early? Might be thinking of the tear I had with dc2 something else though

Some countries recommend no baths even after a complication-free vaginal delivery. I was told it was the infection risk reason for tears/stitches, although many of the points raised by other posters make sense too.

I bathed a few days after both my sections (had showers in the first few days). It was absolutely fine. I never got an infected wound. I got my oh to help me in and out. I remember being in so much pain but in fits of giggles with him trying to help me haha.

I was sent to have a bath and remove my cling films few days after my section.

In fact one of the few good things about dd being in SCBU was that I got an ensuite room (bath no shower at all) and was able to have nice long soaks in it.
