URGENT advice needed: Induction

I am 40 weeks tomorrow and reluctant to go over 40 weeks due to possible problems with the placenta etc as well as the fact I am uncomfortable and in discomfort due to spd & sciatica.

This is my 2nd and dd was 9lb 4oz's, im only 4ft 11in so imo she was quite a big baby for my body frame BUT as the mw's this time around have repeated: I coped with the birth of dd well....TBH I had no choice.!!!!!!! With dd I constantly seeked reasurrance over dd's weight prior to the birth and just wanted the mw's to be honest and to give me their opinion on dd's expected weight. All I got was: average. Till she was born and then the comments flowed..: Oh we thought she would be a big baby. . I know mw's are not god iykwim BUT surely they have a good idea..?

Well after expecting a possible sweep today (not had)etc the mw explained that they would let me go until ds2b was born although they would not allow me over 41+5 (against what vwe wanted) After checking me over, she replied that she feels ds2b is also going to be large..around 8lb7oz PLUS... Thats atm and obviously will be bigger if I go nearly 2 weeks over. She has referred me tona consultant and a 2nd opinion.

SO....................I need to know peoples views and opinions. I am booked to see a consultant tomorrow to discuss a possible induction and if they feel its necessary.
Anyone answer me these questions:

1.Would you opt for an induction if you were me. Has anyone in the same situation as me opted for one..?

2.If dd was delivered naturally does this mean that the possibilty of problems happening with an induction are low..? ie ecs needed..

Will come back if I can remember any other question..atm my head is spinning and Im quite scared and worried.....

TIA. xx

my first ds was induced- and he was 9 lb 12 oz ( a long labour without much progress, epidurals, pethidine, ARM, 2 hurs of pushing then a botched forceps). i had been told they would prob get bigger. prior to this although i am tall, i was very slim (about 9 stone)- no idea where this weight came from!
2nd time i was so scared i had an elective section but baby was smaller- 8 lb 13 oz.
3rd time- induced at 42 weeks- 5 hour labour, 15 mins pushing, no drugs, 8lb 5 oz- she seemed so weeny (tho not while i was forcing her out!)

SO mine got smaller not bigger and the 2nd induction was far from my first labour following induction. i guess your bodys done it before and everythings softened up ab it and the cervix hasnt properly closed since the last time.

dont worry youll be fine. im not going to advise you either way as its not my place to, but thats my experience- hope it helped!

ps GOOD LUCK!

thanks ilmb..!! LM Fingers crossed he is on his way but I am still scared.!!! One moment I think yey I have ds2b arriving soon the next I think oh s*1t I can't do this..Doesn't help with the amount of people who keep asking: oh I take it he's not arrived yet...any signs yet..arrrggggggggggghhh. DH doesn't see it as a problem but then again he's not like a whale and hormonal. Annoys me even more that these comments are also coming from those that have had babies..!!!

I am, I am, I am thinking positive labour thoughts....I think so anyway...

YOU CAN DO IT !! yes you can !! you;ve done it before ! fear is fine...you can have a bit of that, then be positive and strong !

thanks lm. Thing is I don;t remember fear when I went into labour with dd..remember shaking while getting ready to go into hospital BUT after that I think fight took over and I decided not to flight (like you have a choice )

Hopefully this will be the same...I will let you know when there is any news. x
