I've just heard in the news that a couple of North East hospitals are refusing to carry out C sections to avoid being sued if the op goes wrong.

Has anyone else heard this.

I had my ds2, 27yrs ago, in a tiny hospital. If you required a CS your GP came out to do it, with the help of another GP as anaesthetist. It was 140 miles to the nearest Con Unit. I worried myself stupid while pg in case I needed a CS, having had a bad time with ds1; it was quite scary giving birth somewhere without Con care or any facility for a sick baby. Thankfully ds2 arrived with no problem.

Of course we want to have sections in places that are properly equiped for them, so are they reducing services provided.

Our area now has a centralised unit that caters for low tech births supported by midwives and high tech options for those needing sections, epidurals and venthouse etc.
