I gave birth to my first LO 11 weeks ago and was v good about doing pelvic floor exercises before the birth and for a few weeks after but then i kind of didn't do them very much and now most times when i have a wee i notice my knickers are kind of wet a few minutes later! Please can someone tell me whether doing lots of pelvic floor exercises will cure this?! Am willing to be fanatical now...thanks

Yes.

do pelvic floor exercises every day for the rest of your life. They are very important and a huge help in combating incontinence. You also need to make sure you are doing them effectively - ask your GP about a referral to a physio specialising in this.

Also read books and magazines about pregnancy which often describe the exercises.

i'm doing some now !

I cant even feel mine tightening when I try to do them anymore!! maybe something to do with being 37 plus weeks and having spd - i'm defo going for serious physio after lo arrives!! Either that or face the rest of my life on the verge of incontinent!

Definitely keep up the exercises. I had quite bad incontinence after the birth of my dd and now i'm pretty much back to my old self.

Worth getting yourself referred to a physio, though, as they can teach you to do them properly.

Good luck and keep squeezing!

I'ld also be tempted to go to the GP at this stage, just in case it's a urinary tract infection. try and avoid coffee/caffeine, it irritates the bladder a bit, so can exacerbate incontinence.

Go to your gp and ask to be referred to a physiotherapist. They can show you how to do them for maximum benefit. I found I was leaking when i ran (lovely) after the birth of my dd. I saw a physio for about 7 sessions and was fine.

I had always done pelvic floor exercises religiously before and after the birth but I was finding that they seemed to make no difference.

It was worth the embarrassment though as I am all fine now!
