I had to be in for 7am though I was told I wasn't going to theatre until after lunch. As it was, they hadn't picked up that I have a latex allergy and I ended up being first in theatre to minimise cross contamination, so I was back on the ward with baby for 10.30am

7.30am. Got to snooze all norning as I wasn't in until around 2pm.

Namechangenora40 · 30/06/2016 14:44

I had to be in for 8 and was first on the list but they had to do an EMCS. I had my baby at 11.23 in the end.

I had to be in for 8am. Ds was born 1059am. Taken into theatre about 1020/30ish.

I'm so nervous!!

Also I have my pre op the week before, what happens at it? Can I ask questions? There's things I want to know that I have forgot to ask :(

Pre-ops vary from trust to trust, mine was a short chat with a nurse, she did my bloods. Then I spoke to an anaesthetist, he went through my notes and asked what sort of anaesthetic I'd like, he double checked about allergies and things too through my notes. You can ask questions at any time. He went over the risks and stuff just to make sure I knew about them. It wasn't a long appointment or anything more than that

8am. And I raced another woman up the corridor to the clinic so was booked in before her. My DD was born just after 11, but she didn't get seen til 5pm due to an emergency.

Namechangenora40 · 30/06/2016 15:27

😂😂 I'm going to race to get there!! Lol

8am and I was last. Baby was born at 4.30pm and we were left in a room for 7 hours! No one came to speak with us until 5 minutes before. Definitely don't assume you are first sadly!

MadrigalElectromotive · 30/06/2016 22:12

7.30am. I was first on the list but because of an emergency DD wasn't born until 10.51am.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 30/06/2016 22:13

7am and I was first on the list but some emergencies and the woman next to me going into labour meant I was last.
Which is fine obviously as I've been the emergency before so very happy to be the elective this time. Nearly got sent home as my hospital only do morning electives but ended up being fitted in about 2pm.

Pre op - you'll meet with anesthetist and a few others and they take you through what happens, do swabs for mrsa. I also met with blood and transplant as was donating cord blood.
