night feeds

How often are your newborns waking at night for feeds? My two week old is having two bottles in the night 3 hours apart the same as in the day but only taking 2oz at each one.

I was ebf but by babies woke every 2-3 hrs at night for nearly 4 months :(

I wouldn't say my 2 week old has an established pattern yet. Still waking every 2-3 hrs and taking 60-100ml of EBM per night feed by bottle. Healtg visitor said yesterday that we should be responsive feeding (ie waiting for his hunger cues) and he should be feeding every 4hrs at a minimum now that he's rsgained his birth weight.

From what I understand BF babies tend to feed more regularly than FF.

2oz = just over 50ml. Seems ok - how is their weight gain? Have you asked midwife or HV for advice?

He is 7lb 3 he's just over his birth weight. Fornular fed. Midwife out to discharge to health visitor this morning so I was going to mention to her.

Great that he's just over his birth weight at 2 weeks. I would ask MW/HV for advice on how much he should be feeding. Formula tends to be more filling so in theory baby would be feeding 6-8 times a day. Any reason why you are worried (or just checking in that you're doing the right thing?)?

Oh Lordy embarrased!how are you managing / coping with waking every 2-3hrs?!

I'm starting to feel like I'm struggling with sleep deprivation and its only been 2 weeks (with fab support from DP).

No not worried at all he's content and doing great just checking that I'm doing the right thing and seeing how others are doing.

Midwifes happy that 3 hours is a good routine for his weight / age 2-3 ounces at a time.
