ELCS and living in a flat

Can anyone tell me how easy stairs will be after ELCS? I live on the second floor 14 steps then 2 then 14 then 2 more to get to the flat hand rail on 1 side. Should I prep for weeks at home?

They are fine. Am 3 days post 4th section and back at home and have gone up and down the stairs in my home at least 20times today, I have about 20 steps.

Not sure I'd carry anything valuable at this stage though.

Thanks a couple of people have commented how I will manage so many stairs and I might be stuck home scared me a bit.

i had a friend who lived in the third floor of a block of flats and she couldnMt carry her baby up in the car seat.. You may want to consider what to do for your pram and whether you can leave it all downstairs at first.

You'll be fine, if a bit slow at first. I would advise preparing for a week not doing much outdoors though with all those stairs though.

We have 20 steps in total and it was fine, but I used to leave the buggy in the car in the early weeks (biggest issue was actually holding baby in one arm and swinging folded buggy into the boot!). If you have an area for bike/park storage downstairs it won't be an issue.

I've since bounced buggy plus baby (now 2) up and down the stairs nearly every day. Make sure you have a good sturdy buggy!

I can leave the pram down stairs until dp comes home, he will have 2 weeks off but we are thinking of booking an additional unpaid week just incase we need it then he will be with us all the time ds will start school a few days before I go in so I would deff have to be out twice a day and don't drive think I may need him.

After 2 weeks off you should be absolutely fine going up and down the stairs, though I agree the pram might feel a bit knackering. Though I have a vague memory of pulling an enormous tank of a pram up the station steps on my own at 2 weeks post EMCS... Just take things slowly and don't push yourself too much, but it should be fine. Planning for 3 weeks leave after the birth would probably be a very good thing though, just so you can really recover.
