If so, did you stick with it, or did you decide baby didn't suit it once they were born?

Dd1 was definitely going to be Megan.
As soon as I saw her I changed my mind and named her Emily instead. Emily was not even on the short list of names

We had all our names chosen beforehand, although with DS1 and DD1 we didn't know what sex they were.

I almost changed DD1 but decided the names I liked - Isobel - was too popular where we lived at the time and stuck with the original name, so Isobel became a middle name for DD2 instead.

I had a name for DD from when I was little, except DH really disliked it, so we had 2 other names floating. Towards the end of my pregnancy it came up again and he mellowed slightly. After she was born he said I could call her what I wanted, so I got my name! Incidentally, he loves her name now.

With DS with struggled for weeks after finding out at the scan he was a boy, I mentioned a name and we both just loved it. It never get changed since that day.

We named ds1 around 20 weeks pregnant and stuck to the name once he was born. We'd been calling him that name for weeks, talking to bump etc so that was his name.

Found out this pregnancy is a girl yesterday and already named her.

I picked both names before I was even pregnant. Blush

Fraternal twins and we didn't know what we were having so we had to pick out 2 boys names, 2 girls names and a combination in advance.

Dd1 - I didn't know whether boy or girl. Had names all picked out (first name, 2 middle names) for both boy and girl. Used all 3 names, never a moments hesitation.

Dd2 - didn't know whether boy or girl. Struggled finding a first name, but had middle names sorted fir a girl. Couldn't decide on a boys name at all (and then didn't need to, luckily!). When she was born, we still struggled for a first name, and ended up using one of he middle names we had picked out.

Ds - knew we were having a boy. Couldn't decide at all, and kept getting distracted by girls names! Had a shortlist of 4, and even once he arrived couldn't decide. He ended up with first name and one middle name from shortlist, plus second middle name from long list.

DS was called his name from 20 weeks by the time he was born it was just his name it would have been odd to call him something else. This time we have picked a girl's name at 14 weeks both DP and I are very decisive people we don't easily change our minds and both know what we like.

I'm another one who's is a bit creeped out about openly naming a baby before birth. I also feel it tempts fate, DD was after a MMC and I just couldn't have named her, even if we'd known the sex. I would also worry that you might not think that the baby looks like the name you've chosen. I just like the freedom of changing your mind and not having to explain it to anyone! We had a couple of names picked for each sex prior to DD's birth. We just picked the one we liked best. Her middle name took sometime though and came to me suddenly after not sleeping got about 5 days!
