Am 39 weeks and a bit, and am sooooo uncomfortable it is untrue. Have got pains in my groin, and my back feels like I've pulled all the muscles going. Have had period type pains for about a week, but nothing other than braxton-hicks on the contractions front. If I walk too fast I can feel the babies head very painfully banging against my bits and pieces, and if I sit still for more than 5 minutes I am so stiff I can't stand or walk without ome unceremonious crawling across the floor first. No sign of labour whatsoever other than a bit of diarrhoea and heavy discharge for the last couple of days. Baby is not for moving.

I know I am probably meant to feel this rubbish right now, just need someone to tell me so and make me feel normal!

Excellent!

It sounds like your body is doing all the work that it needs to at the moment. It's clearing itself out and your uterus is stretching and the cervix is thinning!

Sleep where you can cos you're about to be busy!

Looking forward to your birth announcement!

averymerrymonkeymooXmastoyou · 20/12/2006 19:30

Hugs to you, you are meant to feel that rubbish!

I felt dreadful in the last weeks: heartburn, stiffness, getting out of bed or a chair was a massive undertaking.

Period type pains mean something is happening, fingers crossed the baby arrives soon

Yulemoonfiend · 20/12/2006 19:31

don't make any plans for tonight

Good luck !

lennied · 20/12/2006 19:33

Thank you so much. That is what I needed, could cry with relief. I can't wait to meet this baby!

yep..what mars said! there is always that horrid bit, where you think nothing is happening..but it is! and then you think baby never coming..and he/she does!

sure yours discharge is not a show??

baby is well down in the pelvis.ready for exit !

have a good cry....will make you feel better!

PeachyIsNowAChristmasFruit · 20/12/2006 19:38

but as the others say it'll all ve over VERY soon (diarrhoea a very good sign unless you know anyone with a virus)

pesme · 20/12/2006 19:39

oooh i am so jealous. hard to believe but it is so exciting. good luck and please get some sleep.

lennied · 20/12/2006 19:46

Thanks everyone, lulumama... sorry if TMI, but then you must be used to all this by now Discharge is white - no blood or anything, but very thick. I thought a show would be bloodstained.

Head is 3/5 engaged. Sit on my gym ball every night for about an hour... even DH bounces on it now! Have completely lost my sleep pattern the last 2 days, just napping on and off for a couple of hours here and there. Not really sleeping a big stretch at night. Have gone from despair to excitement in the space of 10 minutes. Thank you all so much

you sound just like I did 2 years ago, I remember it clearly. I had 4 sweeps and still no action, then suddenly it all went mad, waters broke and I was off. Hang in there, not long now.

averymerrymonkeymooXmastoyou · 20/12/2006 20:14

My discharge was thick and clear, got a bit streaky later (sorry!)

lulumama · 20/12/2006 21:09

show doesnlt have to be bloody.....can be clear, mucusy, opaque...stringy or in big globs..not that is TMI!

honestly.,you reach the point of thinking NO MORE..baby comes!

3./5 engaged is good ! try a visualisation too.......of baby moving down and being born..cervix opening......all very relaxed and positive..

and keep bouncing...nipple stim when you get contractions can help sustain them !

FrostyTheSnowMarsLady · 20/12/2006 21:11

what lulumama said! lol

We can never hear enough information. It's what we live for isn't it Lulu?

Nemoinapeartree · 20/12/2006 21:12

lennied huge hugs and sympathy..I am nearly 37wks and past 2 days have been the same. With baby engaging the pressure down below and on back is unbelieveable...as someone said though it is a move in the right direction..hope something happens for you soon!!!

FrostyTheSnowMarsLady · 20/12/2006 21:21

Nemo... are you using a birthing ball to sit on? If not, are you sitting forward on your chairs and not back?

Are you sleeping when you can?
Do baths help?

sweetbean · 20/12/2006 21:26

Just wanted to say good luck, i felt like i could't take anymore as i was 2 weeks over due with dh but they get hear in the end! and is soooooooooooooooo worth it, good luck lennied have a wonderful christmas fingers crossed for you LOL xxxxx

Nemoinapeartree · 20/12/2006 21:28

marsy..do lean forward on chair but no birthing ball as my two would use it as a giant football and house isnt big enough...sleeping when I can but always get insomnia when pregnant anyway and cant get out of bath anymore..pmsl. Ds was back to back but dont think this baby is as can feel a huge bottom at the front just a bit odd it has engaged so early as DD didnt until I was in labour!! Ds also didnt engage until I was 40wks but was still 15 days over.

lulumama · 20/12/2006 21:39

we love the info !! we crave it ! have had a pad sniffing convo tonoght too! LOLOLOL

big hugs for nemo........

you are all getting there......all the little twinges, niggles and contractions do something to help your body prepare....

looking forward to many birth announcements !

FrostyTheSnowMarsLady · 20/12/2006 21:41

Nemo... just remember.... every birth/pregnancy is different.

Looking forward to the birth announcements too.

Nemoinapeartree · 20/12/2006 22:19

lol thanks you too..although hoping to hold off on mine for a little while as DD has only just turned one!

lennied · 26/12/2006 18:02

Well......

Need some help here! Woke up at 4am Xmas day and went to the loo. Was a bit of bloody mucus when I wiped. Then up again at 5am and pyjamas were wet. Continued leaking, so at 11am went to delivery suite to have waters checked. They said I was losing a lot of mucus but thought my waters were intact. Spent all day yesterday leaking like a burst pipe, going through pads and clothes. I am convinced my waters had gone as smelt like parsnips! Anyway, today woke up at 4am with contractions - feel like someone is running a truck over my tummy and back, but they are only about every 30 minutes, and haven't got closer together all day. Have stopped leaking fluid - just clear mucus now, but a lot of it. Not enough to soak through a pad though. Am a bit fed up really. Don't know whether to go back to hospital and have waters checked again, or wait and see what happens. Any advice gratefully received!!

Forgot to add that when I went yesterday the baby was "slightly posterior" - have been trying to turn baby all day with positions etc. Also cervix was posterior and they were unable to see it. Am convinced that I could get things moving if baby would turn round, but doesn't seem to be having any of it.

I don't know what to say, but just relax. I think that you are starting up, but it may take a while. Just keep on the birthing ball, rest as much as possible.

FrostyTheSnowMarsLady · 26/12/2006 20:01

Ditto MKG. Rest as much as you can. It's all starting but get your rest. Lie on your left side. When sitting use your birthing ball. Ignore it all whilst you can and continue with "normal" living. If you focus too much on what's happening you won't relax and you really need to relax.

Not long till the birth announcement.

kittyschristmascrackers · 26/12/2006 20:02

It all sounds good and exciting. My advice would be to stay as relaxed and chilled as possible. Stay at home for as long as you can too and good luck
