Hi All, I am 39 + 3, I have been having BH for about a week now very painful, saw my DR on Tuesday he said my blood pressure was fine so he wasnt worried etc etc, but tonight I have been having REALLY painful BH/contractions, I have been having a stretching feeling just about my pubic line & also tightenings across the top of my stomach, are these also BH or is DD pushing down or is it contractions??? I have had sickness/nausea on & off for a week & diarehhea (sp) for a few days aswell. DH has been timing them, first ones were about 10 mins apart & the last few have been about 4 mins apart lasting about a minute each. I feel suck a twit asking if I am in labour or not as I read on here you will know if you are, but I am so unsure!!

Phew xxx Been thinking about you....

Quootiepie · 19/12/2006 15:01

I was induced - 9pm had gel, 2am it started... had TENS on from 5ish after a bath, walked most the day, waters broke at 5pm as DS in distress he was out at 10.59pm. It was totally fine. Dont try and be brave, if you want an epidural, have one. IM gald I did Induction isnt bad AT ALL - your in hospital from your very first contraction and its a great comfort.

Quootiepie · 19/12/2006 15:02

*glad, not gald x

Quootiepie · 19/12/2006 15:03

and if they offer the TENS, give it a go! I wasnt going to, but it was brilliant. I dont think they leave you more than 24 hours in labour either.

lulumama · 19/12/2006 15:03

id the pirirton helps and the itching subsides and the liver function is fine..don;t have to be induced..will link to a thread about it for you !

lulumama · 19/12/2006 15:06

read this if you are thinking or not !! about induction !

blueamema · 19/12/2006 20:02

Glad your okay shell2006 and hope the tablets help x

Don't think you should worry about not having a consultant...I think you only get reffered to them if you have had problems/are having problems with the pregnancy. I had one as I was born with clicky hips and it could have caused problems during the pregnancy.

Keep us posted on all activities! Sounds like xmas is going to be extra special for you this year!
.... and hope you get more sleep tonight

SHELL2006 · 21/12/2006 13:11

Hi All, Well the itching hasnt been relieved by the Piriton, went and saw the consultant today, who said she didnt want to induce as only term today & all blood tests came back normal, which is fine, but the MW who was there said to her that I was physically exhausted and that I should have my cervix checked etc, so she checked it, said it is very soft & whilst she was checking she decdided to do a sweep, which didnt feel as bad as I thought it would & I had a HUGE show at teh same time, since coming home from hospital I have been having period type pains which I am sure are contractions so watch this space!!

SHELL2006 · 21/12/2006 13:17

Thanks lulu, I need someone here to support me!!! Do you think I need to start timing these pains, if so do you do it from the beginning or the end of the contraction??

no , don;t worry right now abut timing.......when they are regular,in a rhythm and increasing in intensity, the time between them lessening...think about timing them....i did it from the time one started, then DH noted the time the next one started and kept a running total ! TBH you'll know when it is time .....
try to leave it until 3 - 5 mins apart..more likely to be established labour...

lulumama · 21/12/2006 13:37

oh my goodness... this does it for you!!!!!

blueamema · 21/12/2006 15:15

good luck shell... as lulumama said, you will know when it is time!

twoplusone · 21/12/2006 15:19

MKGnearlyimmaculateconception · 21/12/2006 16:11

WOO HOO!

Good news Shell!

lulumama · 21/12/2006 16:12

MKG-- this takes me back to the NJ dasy!

MKGnearlyimmaculateconception · 21/12/2006 16:15

Well I don't know, we have to see how many weeks this lasts. I love it when people go into labor. It's so much fun.

lulumama · 21/12/2006 16:17

isn;t it!!!

got to go out now

back later though !

SHELL2006 · 21/12/2006 16:32

Have managed to get an hours sleep, woke up feeling like crap!!

The MW from the hospital has ust called to say the other bloods they did this morning have all come back normal which is good.

I have just read my notes from this morning and the consultant has put in there that I am 1cm dilated, I no its nothing to get excited about, but it seems real now (as if having a huge bump for the last 9 months hasnt been real enough!!) The contractions are getting wuite strong now, where I cant actually talk/breath or move when i am having one but there doesnt seem to be any pattern so I suppose I just have to sit & wait. I am going in the bath now see if I can get this back pain to ease!!

MKG - I was a lurker on NJ's thread, hope mine isnt as eventful!!!!!

SHELL2006 · 21/12/2006 16:33

Sorry it was lulu who mentioned about NJ .....bloody hormones!!!

MKGnearlyimmaculateconception · 21/12/2006 16:42

Good news to you about the blood work Shell, now you have to do the waiting game which sucks. Who knows once things get going you may dilate quickly. It took me all day to get to 4 cm, but went from 4-10 in 45 minutes. You never know how fast your body will work.

MKGnearlyimmaculateconception · 21/12/2006 16:43

And if this thread is as eventful as NJ's I am going to flip out. That would be to much excitement. Can I say I'm 18 weeks today and am so jealous of you right now.

DumbledoresFairy · 21/12/2006 16:49

Just read this thread through. These labour threads are ever so exciting! Good luck to you Shell - it looks like you will have your baby in time for Christmas! It is such a special time to have a baby. My ds2 was born 9 years ago today and I still get emotional hearing Christmas carols that mention a special baby boy or mother and baby or similar. Hope things go well for you.

lulumama · 21/12/2006 18:52

just go with the flow......a bath might slow things, but is a good interim pain relief before established labour

1 cm is ok.....1/10th of the way there!! LOL!!

try some visualisation in the bath, if you have one.....

and just wait..........patience now....and relaaaaaaaaaaax!
