I'm 37 weeks today, and so very done with being pregnant. This is our first DC, and we've been to the classes, read the books etc but it doesn't really tell you what to expect, does it?

Last night I had a sore bump and tightenings which were about 7-10 mins apart, but stopped after 2 hours. No waters going or anything like that, but had hoped that was the start!

I'd love to know how other MNers' labours started, especially for their first? It'll give me something to read while I keep bouncing on my ball! Smile

Mucus plug went. Backache started. 6 hours later it was excrutiating, and coming in waves of 5 mins. A few hours later it was waves of 3 minutes and went to birthing centre. Spent a lot of time in the pool but very little progress made. Contractions 1 min apart and intensely painful. After 12 hours at birthing centre was transferred to hospital for a drip and epidural. 6 hours later baby was born by ventouse with episiotomy. Very scary.
Loved holding the baby, loved every minute of the baby (now 2 years old and has a little sister), but the birth was just awful.

This thread is great! Much like you OP, I'm 40+2 today bouncing on my ball, eating pineapple, waiting for something (anything!) to happen!!

They wanted to sweep me on due date but MW couldn't reach my cervix (grumble) so we're still just chilling out at home trying all the old wives tales of how to make it happen!

Loving these stories of labours though, really interesting to hear of others experiences. Hope your little one arrives soon OP and you're not too uncomfortable :)

At 38 weeks I had bit of back ache during the day just put it down to latter stages of pregnancy. Was sitting on sofa later in afternoon moved slightly and my waters went.
DD was born 3 days later after having to be induced.

Thank you all for your stories.

Daffodil90 I had the great experience of picking up a pineapple in Sainsbury yesterday and walking past a nurse in uniform. She looked at the pineapple, then at my bump and gave me a Hmm look that spoke volumes!
