Sometimes it is medical rundown. We all hope for things to be as natural as possible but that's not always possible. Are you really saying doctors never have a role in childbirth?

rundown25 LOL!, a bit of Grey and a bit of brown still so best of both.

It's in an interesting observation that age thing, the experience over the up to the latest research with the younger doc.

Seen that in action quite a bit;!.

Not never lunar . Of course some women need doctors. But a low risk woman with no complications does not need a doctor

Hi,
I just wanted to thank you all mums who left a positive and constructive comment. I know well how the NHS works, I know that pregnancy is not an illness. My topic was very specific so I would thank you in particular all mums who had DIRECT EXPERIENCE with one of the Lindo Wing Consultants.
I'm sure I will make the right decision for myself and my baby. I'm very relaxed, not worried at all.

Ignore them hope, these threads always turn out this way! I've had 4 straightforward births under obs-led private care, 4 brilliant experiences, would highly recommend it.

Yes "thread drift", happens everywhere so nowt new. Anyway hope the original poster has found what she wanted and can now look forward to the happy event:-)

But just an amusing tale of childbirth. Quite some years ago now my second wife was due and my daughter from the first marriage was a very keen St John Ambulance member and asked if she could come along and see what happened as they don't err, get to do that in training!. So that was all OK'ed then she asked if she could bring her best mate that that too was approved.

So waters broke mum admitted and then daughter turns up complete with yet another mate who just wanted to come along and not actually see the birth part as he was a young lad and of course didn't think it appropriate. So they, all in their uniforms for the event!, met up with the "old school" consultant who was there at the time and the midwife and they were warmly welcomed and they were told as to what would happen in some detail so all had their notebooks out writing away.

Then i told my wife that daughter was here and there was also a young lad whom she knew and she said as long as they don't get in anyone's way then she didn't mind them seeing it all!. So away it all went and my daughter was asked if she'd like to cut the cord and tie it to which she soon donned a gown and gloves and and made an excellent job of it and was privileged to hand DD2 back to her mum!.

After several large boxes of chocs and flowers adorned her bedside from the 3 St John contingent who did come.

And finally DD1 has used her first aid skills on many occasions and she is credited with saving a mans life as she knew what to do, her friend is now a nurse, the young lad then is almost a consultant in Paediatrics!

All in a very happy if somewhat unorthodox event!.

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but does anyone know if you can have a little tummy tucking work done at the same time as a c-section?
