Choosing hospital to give birth in

Hi am pregnant with DC2.
DC1 was born in a hospital 5 min from my place and I had a horrendous experience. The consultant was very apologetic and had said that next time he would do my case himself. I am not sure if he would hold true to his word as at the time they were very anxious I don't complain.

The other hospitals are quite far away about 45 min to an hour drive. I really don't want to go to the same hospital as just driving by it gives me huge anxiety. Everyone is telling me to go to the same hospital as it is near but I am reluctant.

Can u choose which hospital to give birth in? Last time my midwife just assigned me our nearest one.

I am really scared of the birth given my previous experienc.

I don't have much advice I'm afraid, but given that you are reluctant to go to the same hospital - don't!
Is there something that happened in your previous birth that would make it unlikely for you to be "allowed" to have a homebirth? You have a right to choose where ever you want to give birth regardless of what they say.

(I got thrown into the nearest one then ended up having a horrible, life altering hospital experience with my son. If I got pregnant again, there would be NO WAY I'd listen to anyone trying to make me have a bloody hospital birth ever again! But I'm not having another baby, so...)

You are definitely able to choose whatever hospital you want to go to - they are probably assuming you want to go to the nearest. a Homebirth may be an option for you as well?

I was automatically put down for my nearest hospital and asked to go to a smaller one further away. The big hospital has a bad reputation, no parking and was where my nan was poorly treated whilst ill and where she died a couple of years later.

The hospital I chose was around half an hour away had oodles of parking where you pay on exit so no worrying about feeding the metre and I felt so much better about my choice.

If you're not keen or can't have a home birth I would find a different hospital that makes you feel comfortable.

I had an emcs so I didnt think about the home birth. Will discuss with my midwife.

Will push for the hospital I have heard good things about and fingers crossed. I am so scared of the birth.
