Anyone else had this... My lochia has never finished but had become a light colour.
I don't think its a period as I'm breastfeeding. Should I bother the Dr as otherwise I'm OK.

Have you been doing to much? I found my lochia increased if I overdid it.

Watto1 · 03/10/2015 15:19

Too much that should say!

Could be overdoing it, could be your period (yes been there got the T-shirt). Do you feel well etc.?

It could Be your period. Mine came back around that time and I was breastfeeding.

RandomMess · 03/10/2015 15:45

Could well be your period then, remember to use contraception!!!

Obviously be aware of the bleeding etc. and go to the drs if it carries on beyond what your period would usually.

Good advice thanks.. No need for contraception at the moment though.

Probably your period. I was exclusively breastfeeding around the clock on demand with both my kids. First time I had my period at 7 weeks pp and second time was 5 weeks pp.

The blood is bright red? It could be a secondary postpartum hemorrhage. At this late stage it can be due to an infection. Because it's the weekend, either call the maternity ward where you gave birth and ask them what to do or call 111 so they can arrange for you to see a GP tomorrow morning.

Like you my lochia seemed on its way out but at 4 weeks postpartum I started bleeding bright red blood. It was the middle of the night so I called the maternity ward. The midwife was very sympathetic and checked what I should do with obstetrician. Because I was bleeding table spoons rather than cups (cups would have meant straight to A&E) I was advised to go to my GP the following morning. I spent an anxious night and went as soon as the surgery opened. The GP prescribed antibiotics and organised for the hospital to book me in for a scan to check I didn't have retained products (ie bits of placenta left inside).
Following day I had the scan and was told I was fine. They took a swab and sent it to the lab. Results days later: infection of the endometrium. The 7 days of antibiotics sorted everything out but I felt exhausted (even more than I already was).

I would get checked, at least over the phone.
