Induction / childbirth rollercoaster

Hello all, I'd love to hear from anyone with experience/knowledge polyhydramnios and why induction might be a good idea when you have this?

I'm 40+2 with polyhydramnios (33cm) and spinning baby (currently head down, but changed 3 times in last week) and at the hospital today I was being urged (very forcefully but without any good reason it seemed) to have an induction.

I am admittedly very uncomfortable and big for 40 weeks. Baby is apparently also big (from scan estimates). But I was first diagnosed with polyhydramnios at 36 weeks and consultant was really not concerned and said it's very common.

On Monday another consultant decided to do a blood test (for TORCH and others) to make sure there's nothing untoward. One result came back clear, we're expecting the others on Friday. If any concerns arise I will have an induction - I can see the sense in that.

But I'd be really interested to hear from people about why otherwise induction is a good idea? OR why it definitely isn't! My understanding is that as soon as I go down that route it's much more likely there'll be interventions and an emcs at the end of it, esp if I'm not showing as particularly ready for labour (using Bishop scoring etc).

I found this study online (from an NHS trust in the Midlands) that said that 50% of women with polydramnios who were induced ended up with an emcs and perhaps should be left alone to go into labour naturally: www.epostersonline.com/rcog2013/?q=node/619

When I read online (incl mumsnet) about people with similar experiences, they all seem to have been induced but it's never explained why this was decided.

Frustratingly I was booked in twice in the last week for elcs. We were sent home once because the hospital was too busy, the 2nd time because the baby had turned to head down.

Yes we're desperate to meet our baby but not to risk a traumatic labour for the sake of a few days.

Thanks so much for any info. And apols for the long post.
