if you have/had group b strep, when were you told to go to hospital?

I have had my baby, 8 months ago. I'm making a complaint about my birth, and one of the issues centres on this, so just wondering what mamas get told in general to help me formulate my complaint.

I've just tested positive and am due in two weeks. Mw says to go into hospital as normal (when I start contracting) and they will monitor me through labour for any further signs of risk. If I show any, I'll get an IV antibiotic drip. They also will monitor baby for 24 hours afterwards, every couple of hours. Hope this helps.

Hi, I had group B step and wasn't really told anything special about going in, basically just not to leave it too late as I would need IV antibiotics prior to delivery. Just to let you know, I have the antibiotics and it all worked out fine….if someone else is reading this and haven't had their baby yet

I should probably also have stated that my baby is fine also, I don't want to worry anyone! It just could have been worse and the hospital messed up in several areas

I was found to have it when I was halfway through my induction for DC1 (having had waters breaking early and took 3 days for results of tests on my waters to come back). So for DC2, I was told to go in "quite early on". So after four hours of mild contractions, I went in and after half an hour of monitoring, they looked at me as if I was mad for thinking there was any way I possibly needed to be there and sent me home. Not saying they weren't right (it was another 24 hours before I went back, by which time I was contracting quite strongly). But it seemed to me they should have been clearer by what they meant by "quite early on" as I still don't really know what they meant by it!

I was told I had to go in as soon as my waters broke. I didn't know my waters had broken when they did, to cut a long story short, I was whizzed in, put on antibiotics I think and induced straight away. I think. It's a bit of a blur but there was certsinly s plan in place.

I was told I need to allow three hours from iv antibiotics to birth! Tricky as my labours are normally less than three hours so I just went in straight away.

I knew I had GBS from 39 weeks. Wasn't given any specific instructions about going into hospital.
I rang when I went into labour and was told to ring back when I was having 3 contractions within a 10min period. That's when they told me to go in.

I was told to go as soon as contractions started, and I did. No good waiting for waters to break for me as I had to have them broken both times.

I had to have waters broken too, Laura. So that advice wouldn't have worked for me.
Now wondering if I should've been given some special instructions!

Mind you, my labour took so long that, even though I didn't go in til contractions were 3 minutes apart, I got through three separate lots of the IV antibiotics...

I had it. I had a pre booked c section. I didn't get antibiotics and no one mentioned anything at all to me about it except for when I was told I had it a few weeks before.

I have always wondered about it......
