Oooh twiglett! Er, could be BH or contractions

See if they get any more regular - I think BH generally stop if you get up and walk around a bit

libb · 30/04/2004 20:45

Umm, would you mind staying in the May thread please? just kidding!

I don't know, I hope someone posts who can help - but I just want to say that I'm thinking of you and will be keeping an eye out on here for any possible news!

Lots of love, libb xx

Oooh, twiggy, I don't know! I did used to get Braxton Hickses, and they were tight and almost painful IYKWIM, but I can't remember if they were regular at all.

How many weeks are you? Do you have a number to call for a midwife's advice, or the hospital? Only I think I'd do that! (Unless mears or someone is here...?)

Good luck anyway!

JJ · 30/04/2004 20:45

Oooh, exciting. Sit in a warm bath for while and see if it stops. Or stop doing whatever you're doing (if you're walking around, sit down and if you're sitting down, walk around) and see if that stops it. The warm bath stopped my false contractions, but I'm sure it's different for everyone.

If they're real, they'll continue no matter what. BH are very normal at this stage.

Lisa78 · 30/04/2004 20:46

so, what happens re your Csection, if you are in labour?

Janh · 30/04/2004 20:48

Lisa, assuming she needs one for medical reasons then I think it becomes an emergency elective as opposed to a scheduled elective. (I've had both kinds.)

grumpyzebra · 30/04/2004 20:49

I think you should call the hospital now, Twiglett, if you know that you need a section for sure and a trial labour is out.. you don't want to take a chance, do you? The longer they have to plan the section, if they decide it is labour, the fewer of the disadvantages of an emergency CS you'll experience.

If you're having a c-section for med reasons, you should call the hospital and ask for advice.

Good luck and am looking forward to hearing about the new babe.

keep us updated twiglett

JJ · 30/04/2004 20:53

Also, BH at the stage are totally normal. I never went through a natural labour but have had months and months of BH between the two boys. (Damn them! The BH, not the boys...) Hope the bath works. If you get out and are still feeling it, call the hospital!

popsycal · 30/04/2004 20:54

twiglett very exciting....i am sure the maternity ward would not mind you phoning them for advice....

MadameButterfly · 30/04/2004 20:55

Keep us posted twiglett.

marthamoo · 30/04/2004 20:55

Just ring the Maternity Ward and ask them. They will probably want you to come in for monitoring.

With my ds2 my waters broke early in the morning, so I went in to be checked out and they told me I was having contractions but I couldn't feel them at all. I was sent home and I had stronger and stronger Braxton Hick's throughout the day (like you are decribing) and I kept thinking "is that a contraction?" All I can say is when the first real contraction hit, at 2am the following morning, there was absolutely no mistaking it - I remeber sitting up in bed and thinking "ah yes, NOW I remember what it feels like!"

But you may be starting off so do please ring the hospital. Good luck, hon, thining of you xx

Enjoy your bath, forget the family and relax. Best of luck.

twogorgeousboys · 30/04/2004 21:32

Lots of luck Twiglett. This happened to me on and off for about a week before ds2 was born. Was attempting a vbac so got very boring. Sound like hospital will keep a good eye on you as you have planned a cs.

mrscrankyangrylady · 30/04/2004 22:08

ooh, good luck!

Lisa78 · 30/04/2004 22:11
