please dont panic! is there areason your having a section?9 if thats not to noseyGrin
i had a secoion with my dd who was breech, and people kept saying its easy dont worry but i didnt belive a word of it.
but it honestly was, it was the hospital scared me, they obviously didnt want me to have a cs and were trying to scare me off with talk of agony, long recovery times and infection ect but i promise it really is easy. my dd was born at half 3, we were back on the ward by 5.30 and i was up showered, dressed, make up on and paiting my nails at 6am the next day. i had no pain killers except paracetamol for the first 2 days. im now expecting my 2nd baby in august and am really hoping for another section.

what is it in particular that your worrided about?

Getting ready to give birth can be really scary, no matter which way you do it. And when you know the date ahead of time it can really hang over your head. I had two EMCSs which I found really easy to recover from. I am having an ELCS in 13 days and I hear those are even easier, especially if you can go into it a bit more rested and relaxed. It's a straightforward surgical procedure that the consultants do every day, with probably fewer surprises in store than a VB. Personally, I'd rather get cut open on my tummy than somewhere more delicate! You'll do great. :)

Me too! Going in tomorrow! It's my second section but my first was a EMCS and I was pretty out of it by the time it happened so don't remember. Everyone who has had an ELCS said it was very chilled though and not to worry, but I can't help being a bit anxious

I recently had one (for medical reason, had to have one) and it was ok. Having the anaesthetic is the worst part. Operation a bit weird but fine. Subsequent 24 hours were agony. But after that only needed paracetamol for a few days and very quick recovery. Psychologically it was great, much better than previous difficult vaginal birth. You will be fine!

I'm in the same position, booked for an ELCS next Friday, and am beginning to get anxious (the thought of the whole operation just freaks me out a bit). Thanks for the positive stories, and hope things are going well Wilson

Good luck! I guess you're probably waiting right now.

I had an ELCS in December (have had two EMCS before) and felt so anxious about it to the point of feeling faint. But it is over and done with so quickly and then you have your beautiful baby! I found it helped to take slow calm breaths and think eg 'it will be fine, everything will be ok, by tea time (or whenever) it will all be done.' And repeat!

Very good luck and let us know how you get on!
