My insurance company told me that as long as medically cleared I could drive whenever, this was just over a year ago

It's not new.

It's an insurance matter

You invalidate your insurance if you drive against medical advice. That's true of all conditions, not just childbirth.

The 6 weeks is a reference to the standard NHS timetable for the usual postpartum check. If you see a HCp before that who OKs you, you're good to go.

My insurer also said as long as I was medically cleared by GP or midwife I was fine and that I must be able to perform an emergency stop. This was in Feb this year.

I drove 6 days after my first C section. And I think about a week after my second....

rallytog1 · 03/05/2015 16:36

My insurer said it was fine as long as a medical professional hadn't told me not to drive.

On my post section leaflet from the hospital it states approx two weeks for driving.

It also says some insurance companies don't like you to drive after a general anaesthetic for six weeks.
