Second breech baby!

Hi all

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of more than 1 breech baby. DS1 was an undiagnosed frank breech and I had a c section at 40 weeks (did not labour, too late to try ECV due to size, short cord and engaged bottom!). Numerous complications last time mean I am desperate to avoid another c section. In hindsight he was breech/transverse for the whole pregnancy. Pregnant with DC2 and intend for a VBAC but a scan at 28 weeks has shown baby is in the same frank breech position (same side, etc). I know it's early but as this baby is in exactly the same position as before I suspect it could be to do with my uterus/pelvis/posture etc. I will of course be doing all the 'spinning babies' tips to try and flip this one, but I'm feeling like the chance of a VBAC is disappearing!

Anyone else had experience of more than 1 breech baby? What was the outcome?

My friend had 2 breech babies due to a bicornuate uterus. She had really wanted a vaginal birth, but ended up having to have c-sections for both as they wouldn't flip.

I would imagine that statistically if you've had one breech baby you have a very slightly elevated chance of having another, but you have plenty of time for baby to move.

I have had two breech babies; I delivered both through planned cs.

Interestingly, DD1 was breech up until birth, but DD2 turned the morning of the cs. All the staff at the hospital looked very pleased, and told me I could have a natural birth. I informed them that I would be having the cs come hell or high water, and they wheeled me in Grin

I had two breech babies. Tried ecv with the first but it didn't work so had ELCS. Turned out that the cord was short and that prevented turning. Exactly the same situation with number two. I did briefly consider a breech VBAC but am glad I opted for ELCS again, given the repeat short cord.

And meant to say, my first CS was fine, but my second one was great and I recovered more quickly, despite having a toddler already...,

I also had a undiagnosed frank breech with dd1, it was only discovered at 39 weeks when I was sent for a growth scan.
I am currently 30 weeks with no2 and the midwife said it was lying transverse at 28 weeks. Just wondering how you managed to get a scan as there has been no suggestion of that here and several midwives and a gp all thought she was the right way up last time.

Interesting, thanks all. Guess

Giraffe, I was referred to consultant/shared care and they booked me in for scans/consultant appts at 28 & 36 weeks to check growth/position/check there is nothing preventing a VBAC. This is partly due to complications post/during the last c section though.
