Nesting instinct...

How many of you actually cleaned the house from top to bottom the day or week before you went into labour?

Do most women feel this?

If so, I don't think my baby is coming anytime soon. I am feeling sooooooo lazy.

My husband jokes he is still waiting for my nesting instinct to kick in! I really wanted the house to be clean and tidy, but I didn't have the energy to do it, so I got all teary instead!
My hubby got a severe case of nesting instinct when I was in hospital, and cleaned the house from top to bottom before he picked us up from the hospital, much better than trying to clean the house when your 9 months pregnant, how do you clean anything other than worktops with a huge belly anyway!!
Good luck, hope the baby comes soon! XX

Not very helpful but glad its not just me... definitely no overwhelming urge to tackle cleaning the oven!

I'm now 40+4 and I know everyone says that i should be pounding the streets or scrubbing the kitchen floor to encourage the baby out but all I feel like doing is curling up on the sofa - not even on my left hand side either.

harrogatemum · 06/11/2006 11:07

I am 37+3, the laziest woman alive and yesterday I cleaned my oven........

Ilovemyboy · 06/11/2006 11:07

Well I really do want the house to be clean and tidy. I'm just waiting for the cleaning fairy to come and wave her magic wand and for it all to be done.

Does that count do you think? I doubt it...

Definately counts!! If the cleaning fairy comes, can you send her my way afterwards!!

Ilovemyboy · 06/11/2006 11:12

Harrogatemum - it must be happening for you soon. I would NEVER clean the oven. That has been one of DP's jobs since have been pregnant.

I have 20+ washable nappies to wash twice (for absorbancy apparently) before my little one is born and I somehow haven't even got round to bunging those in the washing machine. Will do that today...

Katyjo - I'll send her round if she ever turns up.

Can't even be bothered getting dressed. I need a kick up the arse.

Thanks Ilovemyboy, hope she comes soon! Don't beat yourself up, pop your nappies in the wash and that can be your jobs done for the day, then put your feet up, get a cuppa and prepare to look totally frazzled when dh comes home! I found the last few weeks really tough and the more rest you have the easier you'll find it later, lucky for me ds was 2 weeks early, got a nasty shock though, didn't realise first babies came early - what a dummy!! XX

Ilovemyboy · 06/11/2006 11:52

I'm only 37+4 so not expecting my baby to turn up yet. I feel bad sitting here watching telly when I know there is stuff to be done. It's probably my last chance for a while to be v.lazy so I will make the most of it and stop feeling so guilty.

May get busy with those self-induction techniques. Hope my boy comes 2 weeks early like yours.

but now I'm worried as I'e turned the oven on to put a bit of quiche in for my lunch and it stinks of chemicals - is this normal?

Ilovemyboy · 06/11/2006 12:11

The quiche will be fine. The oven; I wouldn't know as mine never smells of nice cleaning products.

I don't think it is normal tbh. I think your baby is arriving soon.
