I did with my first but it was 9.5 years ago so could be different now.
The staff are good and not domineering and font want you on your back :o but when I was there it was very, very, very, very, very busy!
I got left alone most of the time attached to an IV line (induction) - so my tip would be to make sure you have a birth partner able to be quite forceful about calling staff to come immediately if needed, and to take a water bottle you can get your birth partner to refill for you.
My DD has the name of one of the midwives as her middle name because she (the midwife) was very forceful with the doctor on duty about examining me right away when the doctor said it wasn't necessary and she'd be back in a couple of hours, resulting in me being rushed off for an immediate cesarean and no harm coming to dd!
Immediate car after the birth was brilliant, but I was kept in a while and the wards were very busy, took a long time for nurses to come when I buzzed (I was attached to equipment and couldn't get up initially) - maybe I just had bad luck but again I'd advise packing/ getting your dh/p/mum to bring in lots of bottled water so at least you aren't in the situation of buzzing for water if you're immobile at all after (or just pinned down by a baby trying to establish bf).
Take a device with headphones to block out snoring a bit if you might be in overnight!
