Bath after ELCS

ChocolateBiscuitCake · 25/04/2015 16:08

I am desperate to have a bath! ELCS was 11dsys ago. Am pretty mobile and pain free.

With an "overhang", I don't feel very clean after a shower and would really love a quick wallow!

Any chance of a bath causing an infection? I have no visible stitches and everything seems pretty healed.

Thank you

I was in the bath 2 days later. First thing I did when I got home. Have u been advised not to have a bath?

Have u asked the midwife?

Crack on - I was in the bath 3 days post section

I also was bathing every day after 2 days. Dry your incision off well afterwards (as you would after the shower).

A few drops of tea tree and/or lavender oil are recommended if I recall correctly, to aid healing.

There is a train of thought, OP, that having a bath leaves you wallowing in your own filth, whilst showering is cleaner,IYKWIM?
I have always let patients have a bath though, if they prefer, never noticed any difference with wounds.
Congratulations on your new baby!

You can have a bath yes. I had to have one twice a day with some salt in, as I had a wound infection.

3 c-sections here and always been in the bath about 5 minutes after getting home - still with stitches.

Go for it, just dry well under the overhang - I used the hairdryer for that. Grin

Thanks ladies - best bath ever. Feel a little human again!
