Embarrassing post childbirth problem

I cba to name change but I'm rather Blush so please, if you 'know' me in real life, don't mention this!

DD1 was born a week ago today (she's lovely!) I was induced and had an easy, quick labour, she was out in 2 pushes.

She's my 4th and with the others I've recovered physically really quickly after each birth, no tears or stitches since my first baby 10 years ago.

Anyway, I have what I assume is the mother of all piles coming out my bottom and it hurts like hell, I have a constant feeling of weakness (like I can't 'clench' like I used to without lots of pain) although the midwife did check immediately post delivery that I could still squeeze her finger when she was examining me internally both front and back.

I've never had any issues with my bum and I can still go to the toilet as normal, no bleeding, constipation or incontinence issues.

Is it likely to clear up in time (I know it's early days) or am I destined to have this large grape attached forever.
Can I get anything otc to make it stop hurting and do I really have to see my GP? Blush

Sounds like a haemorrhoid. You can get some cream from the chemist which will help. Best get your GP to check it though. There's some tips to help here www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Haemorrhoids/Pages/What-happens-page.aspx

Congratulations Smile

Agree with pp - if it helps, I had the same and was totally shocked, having never previously suffered! I used Anusol which I think was otc and safe to use while breastfeeding (spoke to Dr on phone to check). In the short term, every time I went to loo, I used a cotton wool pad drenched in witch hazel that I kept cold in the fridge just to press on the area - that really helped the swelling and gave 20 seconds of blessed relief!! Mw also recommended baths with lavender oil - they helped but harder logistically with a newborn...think mine was gone after about 4 weeks and haven't thought of it since Smile good luck and congratulations!

Tits, I had such bad piles with DS2 that somehow, when looking in the mirror at baby crowning (underwater, admittedly), DP thought the piles were baby....

They went away with a bit of tlc and haven't been seen since (famous last words; i'm currently 37 weeks pg)....

Massive grapes... Definitely rings a bell.
It got much better over time. One stayed one for 3 months.
I used Preparation H Gel as found it the most soothing. I also highly recommend the wipes but dabbing is better, not actually wiping.

Poor you.

I had a giant grape too! I read that it can go away with massaging so I tried it while in the shower a few times and it worked! It just popped back in Wink

Same here. I cant look at the toy grapes from ikea in the same way now. I had cream and supositories on perscription. I now have a skin flap on my arse. i was told of this during my 8 week check, and also that every time i do a poo i need to use a wet wipe to clean it properly Sad Blush

Worst feeling ever. Just follow the good advice on here OP and for goodness sake- eat a really good diet and drink loads of water to keep constipation at bay!!
