VBAC / ELCS

Hi all,

I had am emcs with my first at 36 weeks due to placenta praevia and a bleed that couldn't be stopped. I'm now pregnant with my second. Early days but the midwife seems super keen on me having a VBAC this time although I'm not sure myself. As I was sewn up whilst still relatively small as I didn't do the last month of pregnancy and also due to a small age gap I've read the chances of rupture are high. Also there's a lower chance of success because I've never had contractions or a labour.

I was wondering though if anyone would be happy to share their experiences good or bad with VBAC or ELCS after emcs?

Bumping! I'm leaning towards elcs as I don't want to end up with another emergency

Same as you Abbey, was just about to post something similar . I had ELCS 20 months ago after a massive bleed due to low placenta . Right now am 19 weeks pregnant due for my 20 week scan next week .
I saw the birth choice consultant who recommends I have a VBAC . But I was confused because this time round I have fibroids and although I don't know yet if my placenta is low this time I didn't think it would be recommended to go for a VBAC

Anyway after disagreeing with consultant regarding VBAC I was booked another appointment to see her at 24 weeks after my scan.

I had a rough time after my ELCS but I only had my dd 20 months ago I just feel it's too soon to have a VBAC

Thank you for replying. I'll have 13 months between my babies so I think that increases the risks of VBAC? The midwives seem very keen on it but it sounds like it'll be highly medicalised with a team on onlookers!
I don't know where my placenta is yert either, so I guess the choice might be made for me
