Hello,

My waters broke at 7.30ish this morning, I have been to see the mw and was told it is my hind waters. I have until 7.30am tomorrow morning to get contractions going and my baby moving or I will have to travel to another hosp over an hour away to be induced :(. I would love to be able to go to our local mlu and have a water birth so would like as much support as possible to get things moving along! All suggestions welcome! Thanks xx

I walked and walked and walked through the contractions- three miles in the pouring rain which was a bit dismal!
And did all those crawling around on your hands and knees things.
Good luck and how exciting- soon you'll meet your baby!

I would say don't bath. I've heard some people say it slowed down or stopped their labour.

Anyone else?

Yes walk. Walk. Get on your bouncy ball thing if you have one.

Soo exciting! Good luck

Oh and don't walk too much or you will tire yourself out!

Reflexology might help - it certainly helped me with DS3. Otherwise, stay up right (bounce on an exercise ball, mobilise hips, walk), watch a funny movie and eat well and stay well hydrated

Have you confirmed you're still eligible for the MLU after your waters have partially gone? I ask because with DD1 because my waters went but didn't immediately have contractions they said mobitoring was needed they couldn't provide in my local MLU. Just double check - I'm sure it's fine but be sure.

Good luck today getting the wee one moving!!

yes, keep walking, gently swaying. that sort of thing. don't have a nice warm bath. i also had my waters break, but popped in the bath and it stopped it. ended up with an induction.

good luck!

Still here with nothing happening. fling a little heavier and slight back ache. Just in from a hilly walk. I can go to the my as long as it's before 7.30 tmrw morning anything after that and it's a trek to the consultant led hospital for induction

If you don't want the induction why bit refuse? You can have monitoring. The risk of infection is very low, Znd induction has it's own risks.

When my waters went with my third, my hospital was happy to wait 72 hours before they would have wanted to induce, so I would push back if they try and pressure you to go in, personally. Ask to see the evidence on increased risk of infection after 24 hours so you can judge for yourself.
I had a home water birth, didn't go into labour until 36 hours after my waters had broken, no one at any point told me I'd have to go in because of that.
