I was going to take peppermint tea in, but i've read that peppermint can delay milk coming so looking for something else instead.

I took one peppermint tablet the day after (often when wind kicks in said the midwife) and also had syrup of figs and dried fruit to keep things moving!! I did have a bit of wind pain the first day or two but basically forced myself to pass it ( walk around keep mobile) after day three it was easier and although I still have increased wind now (tmi sorry) I can let it out easily enough! The pain is hardly there. Hardest time Is when sat still feeding as it kind of builds up and you can't let it out maybe due to lack of core muscles so you have to keep moving!

Also lots of water, juice and no fizzy drinks!

I was given peppermint water in hospital all three times following CS and had no problems with milk supply if that's any reassurance?

Good luck!

I tried Windeaze(?) and peppermint capsules but the peppermint tea was actually the most effective. Had absolutely no trouble breastfeeding either (wasn't aware there was meant to be any correlation) and this was post-CS as well as with plenty of peppermint tea.

I had awful shoulder tip pain from trapped wind after my recent csection. I took both peppermint tea and peppermint water. What really helped was a heat pack on my shoulder - it felt so much better with that on (was agony before the heat pack). My milk came in abundance so it wasn't a problem for us.

This is a really stupid question but can someone please explain what wind pain feels like? I'm having an elcs and everything I've read mentions wind pain but I've never had any Confused. Thanks

Peppermint tea here too and no effect on milk supply. Good luck!

Jimmy, for me it was in my shoulder tip, I described it as being struck with a red hot poker . I had an EMCS with DD under GA and I had terrible wind pains with her. I don't know if it was because they were quite brutal in getting her out quickly.

When I had DS by ELCS I took peppermint tea bags in and had them instead of normal tea and was mobile a lot quicker and I think this made the difference - I didn't have any erm, "wind issues".

Oh thank you I love

One more stupid question if I may. .. Does the wind go up or down? Blush

Mamab33 · 26/03/2015 16:58

It dissipates inside you. It is air that gets in around your organs because they have opened you up. Hope that makes sense

YoSaffBridge · 26/03/2015 17:05

Jiminy, I honestly thought I was having a heart attack because I hadn't heard of the shoulder/wind pain Blush It was a very sharp pain in my left shoulder, a sort of throbbing, hot pain. But it went quite quickly (lots of Rennies) and once I knew what it was it wasn't that bothersome - it was more the worry before I asked someone about it!

TheJiminyConjecture · 26/03/2015 17:15

Thank you for all your explanations, I thought it would be a stomach ache so would definitely have convinced myself that I was dying!

Goodmum1234 · 26/03/2015 18:58

I thought the surgeon has left the knife in my stomach! It was that painful. Peppermint oil cured it

Sevan · 07/04/2015 12:20

Oh my god this takes me back. More pain than the scar! Hospital gave me peppermint capsules, I took capsules and drank tea. No problem with milk supply.

Fisherman's Friend lozenges work. I don't have a clue why, but they do Smile
