Transverse baby- worries

Hi
my baby has been transverse for quite a bit now, at 33w she was oblique and now at 35w she is transverse again.
I was send to a scan to confrim the position which will happen when I will be 36+3 so officially transverse lie was not diagnosed yet.

I have been reading some pretty bad stuff about dangers of waters breaking or labour starting while baby is transverse and I am freaking out about this cord prolapse thing.

Until now, everything was Ok with this pregancy and honestly to say I was thinking it would be much better to have section than vaginal birth as I am quite scared of pain and I would have picked senction if I had a choice, which I didnt.

But now I am just worried about the transverse lie and its implications, I really dont care how I give birth anymore, just want them to get her safely out. If they say they will do section tomorrow, I am up for it. I feel she will be much more safer out than like this.

I have asked midwife if transverse lie is dangerous and she just said they cant birth the baby vaginally but did not warn me about dangers of cord prolapse and what should I do if the water goes. Maybe they are just waiting for the results from scan for it to be official?

Do you think it is good idea to start doing the excercises from spinning babies before scan? Could it harm the baby if reason is for example something with tangled cord etc? It seems to me like she is trying to shift but for some reason can't.

Can yoou tell me what is it likely to happen if the scan comes up as transverse? I have MW appt at 37w+1 after the scan at 36+3.

following this as my baby is transverse been between tranverse and oblique since 12 weeks and I'm now 23 weeks. They did say baby has loafs of time to move but they keeping an eye on it as baby seems very comfy in this position .... had to have all my scans done twice due to positron

At 35w she is safer in utero than out.

Transverse lie isn't very uncommon and there is a set protocol for dealing with it.

There is still a good chance she will move. Do you have one of those yoga/birthing balls? I've heard sitting on one of them encourages good positioning. Try not to sit on slouchy couches at all.

If your waters do go you will go straight in for a c section.

Even in this situation you are more likely not to have a cord prolapse than have one.

Try not to worry.

Mine was transverse - and moved to head down before my 36 wk app.
I did spinning babies things and took pulsatilla tablets ( homeopathic remedy recommended).
If the scan shows transverse you may be offered an ECV.
I wouldn't worry yet. There is time and babies often move around. If they can't move due to cord etc then they won't. Doing spinning babies won't harm them at all so don't worry. Give it a go and the odds are that baby will move anyway.

I wasn't even aware my baby had moved- Mw told me at my app despite me saying ' he's still sideways so I guess I'll need s can!)

DS was transverse throughout my pregnancy and my waters went at 34 weeks. I don't want to worry you but I had a cord prolapse (I had never even heard of it) and emergency c section under GA. If I had the choice I would definitely schedule a c section to avoid going through it again.

My first dd was transverse at 35 weeks. By the next appt she had swung round / down a bit and at 38 was head down but not engaged. I had her at 39 weeks, straightforward vaginal birth.

Try not to worry. Scan will determine if an issue and as its been identified, they will be aware if your waters go early of any risks.

Good luck and enjoy your baby when they arrive.

where were you when your waters went? What did you do then?

I am sure section under GA is not a choice anyone would do but at the end of the day the most important thing is to hold you baby safely in your arms.

I am worried because my mom kept telling me that her waters went 4 weeks early when she was pg with me and then this year we had couple of girls in my family and their waters went 4 weeks early as well, so my mom is persuaded the baby will come early. I realize it is just a old-wives tale as the baby is as same likely to come late but you know....

Just want to know how much of a concern and emergency this really is, I am still working full time and being home alone until late night on many nights, I dont have car nor a friend who can take me to hospital, so I have to rely on taxi and might have to haul myself down 3 flight of stairs alone. I might be about 15min drive from hospital.

I was at home, asleep when my waters went. I woke up in the middle of the night and there was no doubt about it. I called the hospital who asked me to go straight in and gave me a steroid injection because i was only 34 weeks. It wasn't until around 24 hours later I had the cord prolapse. I feel pretty lucky I was already at hospital when it happened - it was a real emergency, and actually quite traumatic. Having said that, it is very rare. And, even if your waters do go early, and you were to have a cord prolapse, they wouldn't necessarily happen at the same time.

My DS was transverse/oblique breech all the way through. I had weekly scans to chick his position from 35wks. He moved a lot and was actually head down at 38wks but was transverse with cord and foot presenting at 39wks. His constant moving around, presenting parts and the distance of my house to hospital meant the consultant obs admitted me to the hospital.

I was really stressed out. I wanted the baby out safely and when a dr in the hospital suggested leaving me until I went into labour (reviewing if no labour after 5 days) I cried a lot. I was put on the c section list for the next day. Then that evening he moved head down and the consultant obs suggested a manual breaking of water done in theatre then down to labour ward if still head down the next morning. Baby was, we went for the water breaking and I had baby vaginally 12hrs labour. Baby had turned back to back but that wasn't related to the breech/transverse position he had been in.

I would have been fine with c section if still transverse, I just wanted the baby safe and to get out of the situation where there was so much uncertainty,

I had been doing the spinningbabies.com exercises to turn him. It didn't work. I spent a week sitting on my arse doing nothing and he turned head down. Did the same for another week and he turned again. There was so much water in there (discovered when waters broken!) that I think he would have just kept flipping with no guarantee that he'd be head down if waters broke on his own.

I was told when officially found at the first scan that he was transverse that if I went into labour I had to get to hospital ASAP. The distance from home to hospital (nearly an hour) was part of the reason I was admitted.

DD was an unstable lie, but mostly transverse right up to 39 weeks. I was due to be induced anyway, but it was decided to do a Caesarean because of her position.

All I can say is, a scheduled section is so much better than a crash section. Talk to your midwife and decide how long you are prepared to leave things before making a final decision.

I was given the option of continuing with induction in case DD engaged at the last minute but decided against. I wasn't happy with the uncertainty and the prospect of her not engaging and suddenly having an emergency on my hands. I don't regret it.

my last pregnancy my baby turned transverse at 39 weeks I was sent to the hospital where they tried to turn him. it didn't work so I had to stay in hospital for the foreseeable until he was born. I was lucky after a couple of days he turned all on his own I was sent for a scan at 40 weeks to check. I had him at 42 weeks by induction hopefully your baby will turn, I was told it would be a c section if he hadn't. good luck
