Hello. When I had my VBAC one of the things they were interested in was the time that had passed between the CS and the next labour. In my case it was 5 years and they were happy that the scar would be strong. I suspect that would be your issue as your CS was recent.

I think that they recommend you leave at least a year between section and ttc due to (small) risk of uterine rupture if you get pg again so soon after the op.

Yes, they do suggest leaving at least a year. I left 18 months and had dd2 when dd1 was 2 and a quarter, but my scar wall was very thin and I ended up with another c-section. I did try for a VBAC but it didn't work out, sadly, although it was easier the second time, as at least I knew what to expect.

15 months between my EMCS and VBAC and none of my HCPs batted an eyelid. They were all pro VBAC.

I can't comment on the timeframe, but my BMI is higher than 36 and I had a straightforward and quick vbac last year, baby 4.2kg. Everyone was very pro-vbac, despite my weight and dire predictions of a 5kg baby...

I'm interested in this too. Had csection with my ds due to early waters breaking at 34 weeks.
Consultant keen for me to try VBAC but I'm scared my body won't know what to do. (first ds was induced - hormone drop, epidural, ventouse... and it was awful)

I'm also in the VBAC will I/won't I club. I'm due DC2 in July and will have a 15month gap between EMCS and possible vbac.

I could have written the op. I'm in exactly the same position, dd is 7 months, born by emcs after failed ventouse and was very stuck. Also higher bmi. Would love a VBAC if and when number 2 comes along. I've decided that, because it took me nearly a year to get pregnant with dd and I'm now 37, I would rather start ttc now and risk not being able to have a VBAC than wait a year, and it then take another year to fall pregnant.

ElphabaTheGreen · 12/03/2015 12:22

I was told after my EMCS to wait AT LEAST 12 months before TTC again due to the risk of rupturing the suture line. After my ELCS, I was told to wait 18 months since I now had two potential rupture-sites. I think you should ask your GP or HV whether you should be TTC at all so soon, TBH.

They recommend at least 1 year but they are very supportive of VBAC so definitely talk to them.
I just had my 3rd child, DD after twins and I wanted a VBAC but my DD was not playing game and I ended up having a c-section. However, the entire experience was extremely positive. I had wonderful care in St. marys and they tried everything for a VBAC, in the end we needed to change course but I had choice and support. So I'd recommend talking to your midwife and just say you want a VBAC. If the course of action changes well at least you tried. The midwifery care in London is wonderful!! Good luck x
