First time birth was bad, should I ask for a c-section?

Currently about 9 weeks with my second and have my booking in appointment in 2 weeks.

The first birth (over 2 years ago) was difficult. Labour started on the Friday evening and she was not born until Monday evening. SHe ended up being stuck as she had the cord wrapped around her neck so I was cut (can't spell the e word!) and they used the plunger to get her out. The cord was cut while she was still in me as she was not budging.

They sewed me up but I hemorrhaged twice after this. The stitches got infected and came undone and I ended up back in hospital after 1 week. I was back and forward to the specialist for nearly 7 months.

I could not sit properly for about a month and did not drive during this time (as I could not sit in the driving seat safely).

Would you go for a natural birth the second time or ask for a c section? Has anyone had an experience like this and had a nice second birth? I don't live in the uk so not sure the rules are quite the same.

Thanks and sorry for the essay!

My first was similar to yours (no hemorrhaging though!) and I had a third degree tear. I mentioned ELCS and they were happy to offer it given my first birth.

I worried about it for ages (36 wks now) but after researching the problems I had I now believe it's the best option for me and am actually quite looking forward to the ELCS not because it will be easy (recovery will be hard!!) but I think I feel slightly more in control than I did with a 3 day labour, third degree tear and some recovery issues! Good luck, it's definitely worth asking.
