Can anyone give me hope- breech baby at 34 weeks

I had a horrendous birth with DD and was hoping for a better one this time.
I will do anything to avoid a c sec - has anyone got any advise please?

I won't consider trying for a vaginal breech due to the issues I had with DD as I can't take the risks ( large PPH etc).
Got lots of reasons for not wanting a c sec- long recovery, no friends / family near by and a 14 month old in short. ( as well as always being my biggest fear)

Please can anyone give me hope he'll shift ?

I was breech from a scan at 30 weeks until 36 weeks midwife still said breech by feeling. Had scan at 36+3 and had turned head down. I was convinced I would be having a c section!

Clobbered · 19/02/2015 17:44

My breech baby turned at 38 weeks.

Rummikub · 19/02/2015 17:46

I was told to give my baby room to turn by going on all fours on the floor for a period of time. I don't know if it was this that worked or whether my baby wouldve turned anyway, but she wasnt breech by her due date.

TheRealMaryMillington · 19/02/2015 17:59

Oh yes ds was breech at 34 weeks, turned @37 weeks I think. Don't despair!

GwenaelleLaGourmande · 19/02/2015 18:07

Dd1 turned at just over 37 weeks meaning my elcs planned for a week later was cancelled. Plenty of time for your baby to turn yet :)

Primaryteach87 · 19/02/2015 18:10

Breach turned at 36 weeks. I understand in later pregnancies it's common to turn practically in labour.

m33r · 19/02/2015 19:46

I was told breach at 34. Spent the next two weeks on all fours (over a birthing ball): was turned by next appt! I'm also measuring two weeks ahead so in theory had a big one who managed a somersault!

Cisforcat · 19/02/2015 20:02

Thanks everyone! I am also measuring 2 weeks ahead so a big ish boy !

Were you all aware they had turned ? ( ie could you def feel it?) or did it happen without you knowing?

I didn't know, have no idea when it happened!

HVB79 · 19/02/2015 20:12

Have you looked at the spinning babies website? I also tried acupuncture. And cake... One of them worked at least!

Clobbered · 19/02/2015 20:15

I was definitely aware that something was happening - thought I might be in early labour as was having very strong Braxton Hicks, but it all settled down again and baby stayed head down.

AndHarry · 19/02/2015 20:17

DD was breech until 37 weeks and a bit of a heffalump too. I definitely felt her wiggle round the right way!

shaz1976 · 20/02/2015 22:33

My baby was breech at 20 week scan and still was up till my mw appointment this week I'm 36+3. I've had same fears as you I really didn't want a c sec, I have a 2 year old and it just wouldn't be ideal!
I have just done lots of kneeling on all fours cleaning etc and she seems to have turned! preying she stays that way.
There are lots of exercises you can try, swimming is supposed to also help x

gallicgirl · 21/02/2015 12:59

I had an ECV at around 37/38 weeks and went on to have a home birth with no problems.

Look at spinningbabies.com for info and exercises.

There really is plenty of time for baby to turn yet so don't give up hope!

Grinningcat · 22/02/2015 20:26

Baby was identified as breech at 36 weeks and I had a successful ECV at 37 + 4. Now 40+1 awaiting a hopefully normal low risk birth (if anything actually kicks off). The ECV was absolutely fine, albeit uncomfortable.

Millie2013 · 22/02/2015 21:36

My LO turned at 38 weeks, I was in the bath and it was the weirdest sensation! This was 2 days before a presentation scan, prior to an ELCS
I had tried everything suggested on the spinning babies website, not sure if they helped, or she just turned anyhow and I went on to deliver her vaginally

NoRoomForALittleOne · 22/02/2015 21:51

I haven't had a breech but came on to say looking at the Spinning Babies website. Also, if you don't like the idea of acupuncture, then they don't need to needle you to try and turn a breech. They do something called moxibustion when they wave a smoking scented stick thing near your little toe to stimulate the point. No idea how/if it works but there are supposedly encouraging results and it's a lot less risky than ECV or breech birth.

Fingerscrossed10 · 23/02/2015 09:53

My lo turned the day at 35 weeks just hoping he now stays that way as he is very wiggly! He spent a couple of days being really busy but it was the movement of where I felt his hiccups that made me realise he had nose dived!
Was convinced I was going to have to have a c section now feel really unprepared!
Good luck!
