Vaginal or cervical prolapse - experiences?

I had DD 21 days ago and a few times since then I have experienced a feeling as though something is hanging or bulging down in the vagina. Only when walking or (tmi) after a poo.

I think I must have a prolapse. I'm going to ask the MW on her next visit but wondered what the likely outcomes are if I do? Any experiences?

The NHS page is not very encouraging. It suggests that most women just get on with it - does that mean giving up sport etc?? Or surgery Confused neither of which are attractive options!

Hi Peasant, I had that exact same feeling after all 3 of mine. All was fine and was just swelling, pop to the docs for confirmation.

I had a similar feeling for months after the birth of DS but as I had no incontinence issues I just did lots of PFEs and its more or less better now. If you googlE Michelle Kenway, she's a physio who has lots of tips on how to manage and improve prolapses.

I also had this but it resolved on it's own by about 6 weeks. Just keep doing your pelvic floors.

Thanks all :)

Bellerina how long did yours take to resolve, if you don't mind my asking?

That is very reassuring overall!

About 9 months I'm afraid. I started having the bulging feeling a couple weeks before I gave birth but the Dr said it was just swelling. I was fine after birth but then noticed it about a month later, although I'm not entirely convinced it was birth that did it. I was quite constipated and had to strain for a few weeks post-partum and I think that contributed. They really should supply all new mothers with glycerin suppositories upon discharge from hospital!

It hasn't stopped me exercising, though I lift lighter weights now and do low impact options in aerobics classes.

(I didn't go to a Dr about it after birth because a) I'm chicken and b) I knew they'd just say to do PFEs.)

Thanks. I had a home birth and the HB midwife is coming out this weekend so I'll ask her to take a look and then raise it at 6 w check with GP if no improvement.

Just relieved to hear it isn't necessarily permanent! Doing my pfx with every feed!!
